Heard two unitronic RS3Â’s blew there motors at Gainesville, FL track this passed weekend. Both e85 stage 2 with stock internals. Sorry if this has already been posted.

so that all of us can leran in detail as to what happened to cause these failures!

You likely won't see it here on these forums; nor is it likely that you'll find out on Facebook in most instances. Each time something like this happens, or when Iroz loses an engine with Syvecs tuning, you hear about it through the grapevine. There are a couple of private groups in WhatsApp and such where discussion is a bit more open but, people are still careful. Companies fight real hard to maintain their reputation.

Having been in a similar situation I would imagine the thinking goes, well I can blast them on social media or not say anything and get some help fixing the situation. I just a few days ago saw a stage 2 Unitronic blown engine on IG but I rarely see that for any company.

For sure. My first course of action would always be to quietly speak to the people directly involved with my setup to see what went wrong and what the solution may be prior to engaging in any kind of open discourse. Now, if all that fails and they're basically saying that it sucks to be me or shit happens, especially if I feel that it was tune related (extra spicy to set records), I'm going to have a lot to say about that.

Hunter had a rough weekend for sure. An engine let go on him for what we suspect to be a DI injector failure. I'm not sure exactly, but I bet this engine had close to or more than 100x 9-second passes on it. He had a new engine overnighted to him from a popular VW/Audi parts recycling source, and it sounds like it spun a bearing shortly after initial startup.

Couldn't wait any longer. I feel like I'm not fully enjoying my car because of the wastegate rattle noise. Cant stand the noise with valves open but the car is too quiet when valves are closed. I made the switch to DS1. There are some great deals right now.

I feel the same. The rattle is not worth the extra performance. I chased the best 1/4 times when choosing and tuning from home. Never done a 1/4 mile run it’s my daily. Would rather have something not quite as quick but enjoyable to drive. All crickets from Uni when it comes to addressing this issue. Super poor

Why was that?

If you've got details or are able to get them in a matter of second, put them up. Why bother posting otherwise?

At the end of the day we all take a risk modifying our cars and you either deem it as acceptable or not. It's that simple. I've not personally seen a single person come forward and say "I was running unitronic stage XX and my motor went because of the tune". Maybe its out there and I miss it - but I searched before flashing my own car.

I actually bought the DS1 module and flex fuel sensor but I haven’t installed it yet. I really just want to keep everything Unitronic 😅

I did too. I have their inlet, intake, ecu and tcu tune. I opted for a catless DP and fucking hated driving my car around town cause of the WG Rattle. It was low key embarrassing. I made the switch to DS1 a few weeks ago, got tuned by Darin and could not be more happier. The car drives WAY better now whether I'm pushing it to redline or chilling in D mode. On Uni, D mode was horrible. The lag was way too much to be drivable. Now I actually enjoy D mode if I'm just chilling.

Darin is the real deal. The couple days I drove not on a custom tune, the WG rattle was terrible.

What is low key mean? I hate the waste gate rattle. ThatÂ’s for sure!

NVH increased when I went to camber plates & improved bushings, a worthwhile trade off for greatly improved handling & steering turn-in, IMO.

Anyway, just wanted to tamp down the whining a little. It's a sports sedan....!

If I switch to DS1 custom tuning (Darin) for my current set up from my uni stage 3 tune, I am expected to increase performance by about 50 crank hp but it'll cost $2.4k to make the switch and I'll get flex fuel. Do you think this change is worth the cost in your opinion?
