Has anyone bought the vag com tool from Total Car Diagnostics ? I have the loose steering issue in my 2014 S4 and want to deselect the DSR feature to fix it. Before I buy from Total Car Diagnostics, I want to be sure it works. Thanks for your help.

Seems legit, but I don't know if it is eligible for the RossTech software updates which happen several times a year.

I doubt you can be a registered RossTech user for their free technical support. The support alone has been worth the extra $100.

I had an error code on the steering angle sensor that required both calibration and module recoding to be able to use launch control on my supercharged Q5 3.0. This loss of launch control and the related soft code happened shortly after I was out of warranty. This issue required research by RossTech tech staff and personal direct recoding instructions. Just changing a single digit in the code fixed the problem. The dealer wanted to charge me $600 for a new module, plus labor to install it. With RossTech VCDS and their tech support, the fix cost nothing.

Thanks for the response. I found another thread and everyone recommended Ross- Tech just like you. I will go that route.

I bought a second hand RossTech cable, am I eligible for the RossTech free technical support or it’s only for original owner?

Don't know. Check with them. Might have to re-register and pay $99. They have to verify sale from original registered owner (to stop possible use of stolen devices, cloned devices and Chinese rip-offs). This link may be useful:

i bought the cable from total car diagnostics a few years ago
they send a link to download programme works great
but as you thought there is no upgrade
if you try to upgrade you will lose your programme
for only roughly $100 is still a very cheap option that will work
    for nearly everything you need

If you can’t upgrade the software as RossTech rollout a new version, what make this cable of 100$ different from 20$ cable from Ebay or Alibaba? I see their website seems pretty professional, but it’s still not a legit RossTech cable. It might be the same dude on eBay selling 20$ and selling the same cable 100$ on Total Car Diagnostics 😲🙄

it’s not the cable that is the issue it’s the programme that you are paying for

The RossTech cable has a serial number that VCSD recognize, as soon you are connected to the net and the cable is plugged to a computer, it will automatically prompt you the download and updated vscd. At least, that what happen with the second hand RossTech cable I bought. So no it’s not the program you bought but the cable that’s important.
