    Fuel fill restrictor removal?

So recently bought a new to me 2015 Q5 3.0t. I’ve had many Audi’s before but none with the fuel fill restrictor on my vehicle.

Can this be removed? I clearly know not to fill my vehicle with diesel. It’s more annoying than anything else. I don’t want to remove it if it will cause a problem or ruin my filler neck.

Anyone ever remove it? Break it out being sure not to drop any in the tank?

Haven't really seen it mentioned other than some modification for the TDI someone did not long ago? What's annoying about it? I've never really even taken note of it before.

I'm guessing you'd need to either drill it out or take something apart to get to it but need to be careful not to get plastic pieces in the tank. Seems like a lot of effort for no real benefit.

Sometimes the pump doesn’t go right in. I don’t want to have to precisely put in the nozzle when I can just slap it in and pump away. More of a convince factor than anything else.

I think that restrictor plate or flap is there to prevent unauthorized siphoning of your fuel (theft), and as a part of the emission system to reduce evaporation loss. Yes, will stop a diesel nozzle, too. As long as you can get the gasoline nozzle past it, I'd leave it alone.

In the 5 years I've owned mine, I've never had an issue with the nozzle, though this isn't the first time I've see this. I wonder if some were just off from a tolerance perspective.

I looked through the factoryanual quick and didn't really see anything about removing that piece, just the fuel door trim components.

That’s what I’m thinking. Being slightly off spec wise. I too have searched high and low for this part on all databases. Came up with nothing. Must be part of the fuel neck assembly.

Oh well. Guess it’s staying in there. Thanks
