Yeah - so if you message the vendor and ask for the g meter they'll tell you to buy the standard one but then send you the newer Pro module.

Have they sent you installation instructions? Curious which pins need to be removed with the updated module.

The older version I just installed did not come with instructions, I had to rely on this thread and Yaode Chen’s video

I just installed the “Pro” version of the Rainbow module. G-meter works now but I’m getting a Suspension Malfunction error. May revert back to the old box if I can’t get this figured out.

UPDATE:
Just spoke to the seller. Anyone with Adaptive suspension will trigger this Suspension Malfunction fault. Others without Adaptive Dyanmic suspension will not. Guess my “Pro” version will be for sale soon :(

Just noticed on my 2020 S4 that the torque gauge only goes up to 86 percent under full throttle pulls. Power gauge reaches 100 percent?

Can anyone else share? I do have the APR tune.

Anybody buy theirs from Yaode Chan vs Alibaba? Any idea if there are any quality differences? Not sure if they’re all the same or there are slight differences. I was chatting him on IG on the regular and G-meter versions he can get. He hadn’t heard about the suspension malfunction yet, but had only sold a few so far. Really want the Pro version, but don’t want a fault either. Can the OBD11 get rid of it?

I was actually the one who told Yaode about the pro version.

I'd recommend just getting it from Alibaba, it's cheaper. Yaode is good and provides some support but he's just adding his own markup to the items.

According to the seller I chatted with, if you have the Adaptive Suspension, then you will get the fault no matter what.

I recently installed the Rainbow box, not the pro. I'm having a hard time getting the RS mode on?. Vehicle variant is at 14 right now and it's not working. I'm using OBD11 as my tool. Thank you guys

UPDATE: I guess you have to leave the car for 10 mins or so for the vehicle variant mode to kick in. I left it overnight and when I started the car, it says RS4 on the dash and I have the shift light working.

Can someone do a full throttle pull and see if the same thing is happening to them? My torque gauge only gets to 86 percent while the power gauge goes full 100. My car drives just fine and I don't feel its down on power or anything. I have the apr tune.

I just installed the sport box pro and there are two additional wires to connect for the g-meter to function. Here is the full list:

RPM Module:
Orange&Brown wire - Pin31
Orange&Blue wire - Pin13

G meter:
Grey wire - Pin49
Orange&Brown wire - Pin48

Powering:
Red&Blue wire - Pin18
Brown wire - Pin54

Thanks Kondax and cthan3o3 your guides were extremely helpful.

I was going to get one of these until the notice was posted about a non-resolvable error code related to adaptive suspension. Reading that saved me the $200 and the aggravation! It's a shame though because I really wish that I could have got that set up.

For adaptive suspension you will need the non pro variant. Luckily, these can be found for cheaper than the pro and 2 less wires to install.

Isn't there some functionality/features missing between the two?

I believe the g meter is the only missing feature.

That's right... TY! I wanted the pro version because I wanted the full functionality, but I can't have it without the error code so it just makes sense for me to pass.

This is probably due to how APR have bypassed the factory torque limits in the ECU and would require them to fix it on their end. I can't see them doing this though.

I have the 034 ECU/TCU 93 octane tune - same issue: torque gauge maxes out at 86%.

Same question. I have a 2021 S5 and really want to add this but only if I can get all features to work properly.

Thank you everyone who made this thread, very helpful

Not that I'm aware of. I didn't get the pro in the end as it causes issues with the OBD port, and makes it unusable if you don't have your hazards on.

Besides this Rainbow Box, has anyone looking into the factory options that give these abilities to the RS cars? Is there a factory RS module that does this same thing? Just curious how the RS cars can do this factory, but for “A” & “S” models you need a non factory module. Just curious.

I found one that has this picture noting the fault code and a way to turn it off. I messaged the seller, but basically got an out of office message for the Chinese New Year.

Oh okay, I wasn’t sure if the adaptive suspension on the S4 was the same and they were just calling it something different. I’d really love for this to work for us too!! I might just bite the bullet and get the non pro version.

I haven't seen any reports of people successfully using the pro without some sort of issue.

Even if you manage to sort the adaptive suspension issue, good luck using your OBD port unless you have the hazards on.. makes datalogging, tuning, and running a P3 guage incredibly tedious.

This is the answer from seller on AliExpress "Hello. Suspension system failure. Match as in the comments. Can be solved." this is one of the comments "I can confirm The G Meter Pro version worked on my 2018 FY SQ5 with air suspension. The seller is really great and helped me with the installation. Just a heads up If you buy this with an air suspension car, there will be a air suspension fault and it’s normal. To get it working you need to this.. 1. turn your car on and put it in NEUTRAL 2. Turn your left blinker on 3. Press and HOLD the return button on your wheel for around 15 seconds. While you’re holding the button after 15 seconds the needle will automatically point to 1400RPM when you let go the car is coded to no show the suspension fault. Enjoy! G Meter works, Rainbow works and Torque/ Power works! 12 Aug 2021 05:55"

I think I will bite the bullet and buy the pro and see what's what with it. Will report back in around a month or so.

Does anyone know if there is a similar procedure for the non-Pro box to fix the torque gauge maxing out at 86%?

Keep in mind that despite having overcome the suspension issue (in theory), you'll still run into the OBD issues I mentioned above.
