Holy crap. Just the trim? From doing mine once, I would remove the center console from the car and wrap it out of the car rather than in the car like I did previously. And even doing that I wouldn't charge that high. I'd be in the range of like $250-300.

Did you ever take out center console, it's literally a good hour to take it out, and an hour to put back in.
It is a pain in the ass and including you know how it goes out. It took me half a day to take it out.
Now I could take it out in an hour.

my mistake is I forgot about wrapping when I had it out, so stupid. As I was fixing MMI board and never thought of that at the point. But I did cleaned/washed/polished it meticolously so it's nice as it is.

Yeah, the most recent picture is genuinely OEM carbon fiber I sourced as a placeholder for my trim whilst it gets reworked. It's pretty cracked up, but I had the idea after I sourced the OEM trim and bought it.. but id rather keep OEM CF, OEM. I'll be sending that out to get re-epoxy and clear after I receive mine back.

The consoles take me about 20 min to remove.
Perks of power tools and doing this stuff professionally for about 13 years.

yeah, if you took it out multiple times, then yeah.
But first timers it's a pain in the ass and way too much work.

Oh I completely agree. The first time I took it out suuuucked. I had to find the bolts since I was too dumb to look up even a YouTube video.

Oh man, you bought Connor's? That's awesome, he came down for wheels and I cleared out space in the garage and gave him the springs for free lol.

The pro tuning valance fit really well, clipped right in no problem. Surprising enough, the wing is for sale, I'm interested in another. Lol

    So, major update.

I ended up toasting the motor a few weeks ago. Caught a mad misfire at high RPM and high speed, blew off cylinder 5 spark plug ground electrode, found 40 compression on that cylinder a day or so later after a plug swap didn't fix the misfire, and found cylinder wall damage with a boroscope.

After much deliberation (and jokes/roasting from my group chat), I landed on the idea of a 5.2 Swap. And to much of my surprise (not really), everyone cosigned on it.

Big thanks to Joel who was local and had everything I needed with 70k miles for sale. After pickup I took off the intake to check flap structural integrity and verified all good, carbon cleaning in the next few days, and then adding some go fast parts

Heart transplant incoming! Here's to one of 3 V10 swapped wagons in the states! IMG-20230418-WA0002.jpg

man, I know of the other two ytb projects, one finished without details how they sorted out tranny issue, and second one never posted any more updates, they were cutting the tunnel and swapping half of the body to match as S6 tranny cant fit A6 body.

how are you gonna solve that?

The thing with those 2 is that they were pre-fl. A buddy of mine who is an Audi master guild is saying that because of the facelift it got a bigger trans with the 3.0, it may just fit right under. This is of course speculation, but if it works I will update! If it doesn't, I will update after I hit everything with a BFH for clearance.

so this is interesting as most people just say dont waste your time with a v8 swap and just go buy a 3.0 instead of v8 transplant i own a c6 4.2 and love it so much that i see a 4.2 avant in my future. so you are not going home huh

So I'm going from 3.0 V6 to a 5.2 V10. The reason being is the availability of the 5.2 was in my neighborhood, a couple hours drive but that's basically around the corner. It also came with virtually everything I need, minus some coolant hoses and power steering lines. And the price was right.
Also, being able to part some of my 3.0 out, GFB and good engine components will help me recoup some cost, whereas if I went with the 3.0 I would just be in it for the price I get it for.

So, it's been completed but not running for about 2 weeks. Seems to be immobiliser programming and that can't be fixed be a dealer.. it's EEPROM coding that needs to be corrected for VIN and immo defeat. After this last hurdle, she should be running. For the fun of it, enjoy some pics. We are running and driving! I got the ECMs back about 2 weeks ago. Fired right up.

Fixed a coolant leak since it was able to idle and found out I missed the connector to the coolant temp sensor (back of the motor). So I had to drop the motor again, but getting kind of used to it lol.

As of now, just need to replace upper control arms (regular maintenance at 125k), get the exhaust welded back together so the exhaust flows out the back rather than under the car, and purchase and install a S6 ABS module (throwing codes, codes basically say the programming is wrong for the 8.1x abs module trying to talk to 9.1x ECMs.)

Pictures of a dirty bay for now. Still cleaning things up. I'll clean and detail the bay once Im sure things aren't going anywhere and I get the vanity engine covers.

Requests for any videos, let me know. I can send videos through WhatsApp.PXL_20230629_203400885.jpg

I had to send them out. I found a company called Speedometer Solutions (apparently old audizine and audiworld heavily relied on them) and they were able to get things set straight for me. I have no bad words, fantastic!

Just got the exhaust buttoned up today. I've been driving open downpipes for 2 days. Glorious noises but extremely loud in cabin lol.

Not to jinx it but should have codes taken care of tomorrow, then just waiting on JHM to email me back about a tune!

Removed the supercharged badges from the fenders. Came off surprisingly clean, required very little finishing cleaning to get the residue off. Added on the V10 badges that way I'm not a poser badges are from Etsy, and look very OEM. Crossing my fingers that if I come across a S6 in the wild, the badges are in the same spot. I eyeballed from a picture on Google.IMG_20230803_070354_01.jpgPXL_20230803_113914002.jpg

Thanks! I actually cleaned up underhood a bit (until I pull intake, valve covers for painting) and installed the vanity engine cover today as well. Funny how you said that.IMG-20230808-WA0005.jpg

Painted the intake, got exhaust fully straight piped out the rear, getting prepped for a couple things this winter into spring! I'm excited for what next year brings. There's been a lot of progress with this car, most importantly I swapped a few modules with S6 modules to clear the lights on the dash! We are running error free! Minus a CEL for oxygen sensors that I'm not doing yet because it's a motor drop job (I know right?) and the airbag light for POD sensor in passenger seat unable to be calibrated due to a different style of talking to ECU.

I guess I should work on that fuel light next, it keeps coming on every couple hundred miles!IMG-20231019-WA0002.jpgIMG_20231020_193349_01.jpg

Reviving this as 2024 is going to be great!
    - Changed the tag as the V10 just sounds amazing
    - Ordered a new steering wheel and airbag cover (should be here soon)
    - Put a deposit on something special from the UK that is hard to get here
    - Debating wheel options
    - Sent shift knob out to BFI to get reupholstered to yellow Alcantara
    - Planning to upholster the door cards in Alcantara
    - Planning to upholster the center console lid in leather and white stitching to match the seating
    - Trying to find a S6 front bumper
    - Need to install the new hatch spoiler

For now, enjoy the thickness of my baby ASMR and @Quattrocentric, the reason I have the C6 in the first placePXL_20240209_004419973.jpg

Hmmm. What sort of things come from the UK that we can’t get here? Perhaps the twin turbo V10? Might as well…

Installed the refurbished JHM shift knob today and earlier in the week, installed my custom Alcantara/CF FBSW! Really ties the interior together! I'm so happy with how this turned out, the next step will have to be some yellow seat belts along with some Alcantara in the door cards. Maybe a center console lid to match. Man, I don't have much more to do .... PXL_20240308_174536696.jpgPXL_20240301_215705978.jpg

Been quite a bit since I updated this thread.
Got the front bumper officially painted and picked up a roof box for the S6 avant. My daily S4 has been quite a fun toy for a bit, finishing it's build here is coming up quick... That's probably half the reason the wagon has been getting less love.
Over the winter break I replaced all the injectors, replaced and painted valve covers, repainted the intake, and installed new air filters and coilpacks. I attempted a B12 treatment, which I think did not work, and will have to find something else to unstick the possibly sticky piston rings (I believe that is my blowby).

(Will AZ let me post pictures tomorrow?)

Awesome work. I had a 2011 c6 Avant back in 2015 but sold it a few years ago. Had been missing it so bought another one! Don’t think I’ll go as far as you have but I got the mod bug.
