Cargo capacity decline between 2018 and 2019/2020/2021

The “official” specs for these years has the Maximum Cargo Capacity as about 6 cu. ft. LESS in 2019, 2020, 2021 than in 2018.

Looking at the 2 models side by side with seats folded down , I don’t really see where 6 cu. ft. we’re lost.

Can anyone shed light on this, please?

FWIW, like you, eyeballing my son's 2018 Q5 side by side with my 2020 SQ5 suggests there's no material difference in cargo capacity.
