Anyone running the larger Merc Racing HX?

Browsing around today and saw this larger HX on Merc's website. Is anyone running it on their S4? Their website states that it's, "also compatible with S4." I tried searching around but haven't seen mention of the larger version anywhere.

I hung one of these on my 3.0T Q5 , it fit but it was very snug and the Q5 has more room up front then a S4. I'm sure it could be made to fit but it's going to take some creativity to make that happen. 20200808_130214.jpg20200808_120409.jpg20200808_120359.jpg

Anyone running the larger Merc Racing HX?

I’m upgrading to one. Replacing my V2
with his S6 once I get a new motor in the car. Apparently it holds almost a gallon more fluid. I’ve spoken with a few Q5 owners using this unit as well and its seems to be working very well. This guy is supposed to be posting a video on the install and performance of the S6 unit on his B8 S4 soon: https://www.instagram.com/p/CJCMG0FH...=12urfw1j4ht7a

Here’s a clip of it on Jose’s car as well: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R1J5AwuynOU

Nice. Definitely looks like the way to go from here on out. Interested to see what that Vancity guy comes back with as well.

I guess it's a good thing I haven't bought a heat exchanger yet. I'm looking forward to seeing more on this.

Has any managed to get the high-capacity Merc HX to fit in their S4 and lived to tell the tale? Any tips or experience of the level of effort needed?

Thanks for the video link man. I hadn't seen that yet.

I still have some questions about installing this S6 HX on a B8.5, as hoses are routed differently. Can anyone shed some light on whether we need to purchase the hose/install kit along with the S6 exchanger?

I think that the HX should be mounted as far back as possible, and have the openings from the OE HX sealed up. This will force the air through it vs allow it to go around. (Path of least resistance is around)

Would be good to know this as well. I'm still torn which one to get. Since I don't track race or do back to back hard pulls often, not sure if it'll warrant the $100 difference for the larger s6 version. But if the difference is pronounced it might sway me the other direction. As long as the install is pretty similar and doesn't require much modification vs the s4 version. I heard you may have to trim the air routing trim to the radiator (if our cars have it).

I'll be on 3.27 dp ratio soon as well. Also, here in the pacific northwest, our summer Temps are generally 80-90s tops, with a few days in the 100s recently.
