Like Audisthesia said you CAN do whatever you want, why not cut off the caliper with a plasma torch and then weld them back on when you are done. We are telling you the correct way to do it.
You even have the pictures and can clearly see you can take it off with the caliper still attached to the bracket.
Like I mentioned if Audi does not give you the torque spec for a bolt they usually don't want you removing it. They even go out of their way in the service manual to tell you not to remove those bolts (or the guide pins).
