When you did the transmission service, was it just filter and fluid change ? or did they revert the software back to stock as well ?
I did a transmission service at 119k km and now I'm sitting at 162k km. When i got it done they said doing it every 60k km is OK; but maybe it's better i do it a bit sooner given the new tune; so it's on fresh fluid
Was the damage because of the 4th gear shenanigans and hard driving ? Or just the regular shifting.
I've already adjusted my driving style to not be on throttle when i want it to shift; i can actually get it to shift when i want now.
@Jake - Would you guys have a set amount of miles the car would have to be driven to get the transmission adaptation sorted or is there no additional adaptation that happens after the tune?
Also I'm assuming if I need to reflash the same TCU tune again; there won't be any additional charges ?
I had my Indy mechanic drop the pan, replace the filter and gasket then refill the fluid lost during the procedure - not a complete fluid flush.
Once I got it back I reflashed the software myself, same tune as before but just re-did it to reset all of the adaptations.
My damage didn't totally kill the transmission, but iirc a concerning amount of clutch material in the fluid for 83,000 miles. The factory service interval is 75,000.
Not sure what longterm fix there is. It seems to be a bit different for many people, but when it happens to someone I recommend the above service and resetting the tune/adaptations.
Basically gives it the best conditions and a fresh software for ideal operations. Seems to be one of those things where if your car was assembled on a Friday, the issue could come up.
