Upon warm startup, I get a very strong chemical smell in the cabin (like a mixture of gasoline and used motor oil) through the HVAC vents. It happens immediately upon startup - not nearly enough time for exhaust to make its way in (doesn't smell like exhaust anyway). At first I thought it was a burp coming out the turbo, then the open air intake box in the engine compartment and then finally getting sucked into the HVAC system intake, but I've started the vehicle with the recirc on (default is off) and still get the smell. I've been tuned for so long can't remember if it was there before stage 1 and/or stage 3. No CELs, no DTCs, no under hood oil or fuel leaks I can see. I just replaced the PCV breather tubing and vent valve assembly (oil cap was leaking) and still there. Any ideas? Nothing major but kind of annoying.

Iirc, even if the HVAC is off, the blower will still be on "recirc" to move the cabin air. That said, on my '21 SQ5 Sportback, when I initially turned-on the HVAC, I noticed a petroleum smell before it dissipated. Turns out the evaporator core had a small leak, and it was likely the compressor oil that is comingled with the refrigerant that I was smelling. My dealer found the leak and replaced the evaporator under warranty. No more weird smells.

Thanks, that makes total sense. Mos def a petroleum smell, but to me not really gas/exhaust/motor oil - the closest would be gas. Of course, I'm WAY out of warranty, and it probably involves removing the dashboard (i.e., expensive) so I'll just suffer it for now.

For the 17KW PHEV 55, - Would I be better off with the genuine Audi wall plug in charger or would investing into a "better" wall charger be any better? I have a friend who works for a company that sells the wall chargers I forget the name but they are name brand and offer special features. I'll have to report back

I would be using it on a 120V standard outlet (apartment reasons)

If you’re in an apartment will they even allow you to install a permanent wall charger? One potential downside to the Audi included charger is that there is no lock on the wall side. So someone could mess with you and unplug you from the wall and you would stop charging unexpectedly. That would be less of an issue with a hardwired wall plug since the charger locks to the vehicle. As for other special features of a wall charger, not sure what you’re referring to?

I was looking to increase the rotor size from 350 to 380 with the stock calipers. Will this work and do they make a bracket for this? I've seen full kits but want to keep the stock calipers.

Can you hack it to work, maybe. Is it a bad decision, likely. Even for the factory 375x36 vs 350x34, both using the same Akebono 6-piston fixed caliper system, it's different calipers for the larger rotor size. Look at the space between the rotor and caliper on your current system. Then imagine how far the caliper will have to back off the rotor to fit over a larger diameter rotor.

    Garage door opener

I tried searching, but wasn’t successful managing the search function on my phone…

For some reason the garage door opener feature is grayed out in the MMI. I’m not sure when this “broke” but this used to work, now it’s not. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this working again?

    Many thanks!

Start with a scan for codes; see if the car is aware of something being wrong and address that. If the car isn't pointing out any issue, you probably should point out if this is a B9.0 MIB2 vehicle or a B9.5 MIB3 vehicle, since the human interface to the HomeLink is different between them. And MIB3 could have any number of wtf problems.

These MMI systems are so much of a PITA!! I assume the car is started? Hate it when i park and want to go in through the garage and have to start to use function.

My 25 SQ5 came with the trailer hitch option. Anyone take theirs off? Is there a different lower bumper cover if you don't have a hitch?

Yes, the lower spoiler is different for without trailer hitch (1D0) vs with trailer hitch (1D4) or with trailer hitch prep (1D8). Since the trailer hitch for NAR is a port accessory rather than a factory part, NAR Q5 come as 1D8.

For the facelift since mid Aug '23, the rear sport bumper lower spoiler can come in either satin black or brilliant black. Prior to that, the facelift rear sport bumper lower spoiler was only satin black.
    1D0: 80A 807 434 F 9B9 for satin black or 80A 807 434 H Y9B for brilliant black
    1D8: 80A 807 434 G 9B9 for satin black or 80A 807 434 J Y9B for brilliant black

I assume the only difference is the hole for the hitch to stick through.

Wow, the cost cutting by Audi these years. So the rear footwell light was deleted from QQ1 starting MY22. The rear footwell light p/n for the facelift is 4E0947415A (which represents even more cost cutting, it was RGB for B9.0). And we see the seat harness p/n changes starting MY22 for QQ1 configs. So very likely they removed the connector.

I was looking into options as well, and I hear that wrong codings can burn out the modules which cost $3000 for the lights ...? Not sure how true that is, but it halted me on looking further. I know on BMW with an App and OBD, I can activate it just fine

2024 SQ5. The Audi Pre-Sense thing is driving me up the wall. MMI only allows it to be turned off for that trip, and resets to be on again the next time the car is started. I really want it turned off and have it stay off. From what I've heard, even the dealer can't/won't disable it. Is there anything I can do myself, like VCDS perhaps? I tried searching the forum but came up empty.

Is this the imminent collisions warning ? It bothers me greatly when the vehicle is ways far behind another vehicle but I dont step on the brake...for example when I use engine brake and dkdnt have my foot on either pedals.

The Imminent Collision Warning pops-up on the screen with a loud "ding". And on one occasion the vehicle even applied the brakes sharply 2x on me. I heard that there was a class-action lawsuit over this, because it has actually caused some people to be hit from the rear because their Audi applied the brakes like that.

Definitely not operating correctly then. Have you had a calibration done? Someone here will know more than I do but that isn't normal operation for sure.

Thanks. I guess it's worth having them re-calibrate it. I bought it 5 months ago with only 9400 miles on it. It was the service manager's company car at an Audi dealership, no accidents, no re-painted panels. Wouldn't expect that anything was off-kilter on it to need a calibration but if the behavior seems abnormal I'll go give that a try.
I do drive pretty aggressively, but in Dallas traffic you either lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way. I don't want the car trying to drive for me. That forced-braking ain't gonna fly. If I can't find a resolution it's going to have to be traded-in on something else.

Check your MMI settings. Vehicle-driver assistance - pre sense. I believe you should have options to turn it down or off in there. Just checked the neighbors car 2024 Q7 and it's in there.

It's in there. I've found it. But that is only good for that trip. Once you turn the engine off, that setting reverts back to "on" again upon the next start. No way to turn it off and keep it off via the MMI. I have heard that it isn't like that on earlier year-models and it will stay off, but on mine ('24) it reverts.

Has anyone been able to successfully remove the front bumper lower trim without pulling the entire bumper off?

Or if anyone happens to have a copy of the service manual for the B9.5s? I only have up to the B9.

I know it’s one piece since I have a black version that I’m trying to replace it with. I was just wondering if there was a way/trick to disengage the tabs without having to take the bumper off to access from the inside

So is there a US made tire that competes with Continental DWS06+ or did they just become 25% more expensive when I plan to replace tires this summer?

At a high-level, Goodyear and BFGoodrich. But a lot of foreign companies do have manufacturing plants in the US, like Continential, Yokohama, Bridgestone, and Pirelli.
If you have the ability, you can check the plant code on the tire sidewall to see where it's made: https://wfirm.com/complete-list-of-t...t-plant-codes/

But of course, its a bit more complicated than that given the nature of a global supply chain. Even if it's manufactured in the US, where the raw materials are sourced, machinerery and production parts, ongoing maintenance of parts in the prooduction line, will all play a part. Everything is going to get more expensive and you can bet that if foreign entities have to increase their prices by X percent to offset import fees, onshore companies will raise their prices by Y percent to futher pad profits margins.

I used this for removal. Drop the belly pan. You can see the T25 screws. I think there's 10-12 of them. of course disconnect the sensors.

If I’m gonna pull the whole bumper, I might as well wait until I source a BO grille and replace both at the same time
