PSA: Coffee mug that fits in the center console cupholder!!!

Not sure if anybody has a coffee mug that fits in the center console cupholder, but I had one that did for years. Then the top got broken and I was on the hunt to find one that did. I had no idea it was so difficult finding a coffee mug that fits in there because the one I had already did. Took me a couple months store shopping with failure after failure (ie Target, Dollar Stores, Walmart, Marshall's, etc), then finally headed to Amazon.com. Found one in damn near the same old dimensions with a 2 5/8" bottom, which is the size of the stock cupholder. Only difference is it is just a tad shorter than my original one, so it holds a little less liquid. But with a coffee mug that fits in there damn near perfect, can't really complain. Figure share the wealth!!!

Here is a pic of the new one on the right compared to the old one on the left.

Here is how it fits in the cupholder, with it tapering just at the right height. Fits in there damn near perfect fit with no rocking about, so no spills (unless your driving habits forced it).

And here is the Amazon link to purchase (if they sell out, just use a different buying option): Clicky Click

    Your welcome!

Just like the morning coffee ride to work, it gets quite addicting having a proper mug to drink it from. There are much better mugs on the market (ie I use a Contigo snap seal), but I swear this is the only design (with dimensions) I have come across that fits in there. Most of them simply won't fit. Not the best mug by a long shot...but it works on the B5 chassis.

That's not a real coffee, that's black hot water. This reminded me of the struggle of getting a proper coffee in north america.

My first job was Dunkin Donuts at 16 (this is the 90s). Had a European customer come in and ask me to double grind a pot for him because the coffee was so weak. But Dunkin Donuts coffee sucks anyways. Best coffee spots I found majorly are ran by Middle Eastern or Indian people, because they basically like to drink good coffee (potency with taste). So what they drink, I get to drink too. Most times they have their own beans they grind themselves, and those beans can be some good beans.

Visited my first 3rd World Nation when I went to Dominican Republic. Beautiful people, and was instructed to take a cab from the airport straight to the resort, mind I get robbed by someone on a moped just passing by (interesting cab ride with people from Colombia). When I get to the resort I am kind of tired, so my friend suggested I get an expresso. It is hard to explain the potency of foreign caffeine products to the average American, but they are quite different than your typical Starbuck's beverage all the kids rave about.

With that being said, still love my Keurig Wolfgang Puck Hawaiian Hazelnut K-Cup. Probably my favorite coffee, minus coming across a Sikh in a tucked gas station with that good good brewing in the corner. Hidden gems, I tell ya! Used to have my favorite spot by the Cross County and I-87 when I worked in NYC a lot. Also had a nice little store inside where they made most their money (contraband and paraphernalia things, with extra stuff you can "ask" for behind the counter). It is here I actually found out why their coffee was so good. He pulled out his bag and spilled the beans of how they have their own beans, grind them, brew them, and then sell them by the cup for someone like me to enjoy. Pretty cool spot when just leaving the city.

That is Chinese C5 A6 knock off. Wasn't willing to pay OEM prices for a piece of plastic. There are some differences between that and stock, but made it work and fit like factory (ie had to sand some of the trim piece down so it would not get hung up when the cup holder slides in and out). Only thing I could not retrofit to work properly was the little cup holder illuminated icon. Pretty confident if I tried again I could make it work, but just wasn't worth the trouble. For those with OCD, this may bother them too much. But it worked to the level I wanted, which was just a functioning cup holder. My old one's sliding mechanism no longer worked, and annoyed the crap out of me after a while (always in the open position).

You know what's sad/funny.. The days I would drive my S4 to work rather than my daily I would actually put my Yeti mug in the TRUNK in that little compartment on the right side... Mugs have grown in size along with the cars over the years!

I'm terrified to ever use that cupholder. It's right over the head unit and doesn't seem terribly strong.. haha. I'll keep the coffee cups in the daily

Same here; I’m afraid to put anything in there that’s heavier than an empty aluminum can.
