Buyer beware - Audizine user Rayden

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi everyone,

Just lost a few hundreds dollars from fellow Audizine user Rayden, who I was supposed to purchase motor mounts from. He directed me to his friend, who never shipped them, and I have not been able to contact Rayden or his friend.

Just wanted to post a buyer beware if anyone else is in contact for him regarding a sale of an item

How did you pay for the motor mounts? I always use PayPal for transactions like this and select the option to pay for goods and services. That way you're covered by PayPal Buyer Protection and PayPal will refund your money if you file a claim and report that you never received the goods.

A lot of people use the friends and family option to avoid fees and get screwed.

    Fuck scammers

Watch out for pyro or pyromatic too - real name James Taylor out of upstate NY (Corning)

Have heard a few stories of people paying for steering wheels and never receiving them. Dude is semi local to me and I had to blast him on FB to get a refund after 10 months of excuses on his part

Rayden was called out in here a bit ago.
I would employee everyone to keep an eye on the buyer/seller feedback forum and do your due diligence of checking out forum members before buying.

Just remember as unemployment goes up and the economy goes down fraud and theft will go up.
    Be careful everyone.

The obvious is to avoid Rayden. What I can't stress enough is ANYWHERE on ANY forum when paying for something, DO NOT SELECT PAYMENT FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!!!. If you are paying for anything from someone you don't know and it is a direct payment through Paypal, select Goods and Services. This way if you get scammed, you can contact PayPal and get a refund.

I’ve done a bunch of transactions with F/F or through direct venmo/zelle but after having the confidence that the people i was dealing with were honest and well established members of the forum and never had an issue.
You can check the status of a member if you click on their name if it shows that he just signed up a few days ago and all of the sudden has what you’re looking for is probably a scam.
If it tells you I don’t have it a friend of his has it or is at his other place and a bunch of bs it’s common sense.
Never rush to send the money and always check the backround of the member you’re dealing with.

Not to sound rude but I don't care if someone is an established member or not. If I'm paying for a goods and service I'm sending the transaction via goods and services. Sorry but the fees will be taken for the sake of my protection. Unless I know you as a good friend, its goods and services. Never ever taking chances so a seller can save money (even if the transaction is a big amount). If you are set on selling and item, accept the fees for PayPal or I'm not buying from you.

Asking for a little extra to cover the fees charged by PayPal isn't out of line considering what the PayPal Buyer Protection option provides. I ordered an Alpine speaker upgrade kit from a dealer in Germany on ebay using PayPal and the tracking number they provided was absolutely useless. I contacted ebay about a month or so later and filed a claim indicating that I had never received the item and provided them with the tracking number. They gave me a full refund in just a matter of days since they were unable to track the shipment. I eventually did receive the item and shipped it back at my expense.

If you're actually sending money to someone you know then it's OK to use the F&F option to avoid the fees.

I have had good luck in the classifieds using Venmo and zelle as well, just realize there is some risk.

It sucks scammers muddy up the community because all of my transactions except one have been extremely positive. The Audi community can be really awesome with people willing to help you out.

I’ve made some trades as well that worked out really well for both parties

I made a rookie mistake and didn’t realize what friends and family entailed. Oh well, live and learn. I may file a separate lawsuit against him if he still has not refunded me in the coming weeks

If your payment method on PayPal was your credit/debit card, go to your bank and start a chargeback. If it was your PayPal balance, well I guess you can see what you can do but I wouldn't know where to start.

Maybe you can tell PayPal it’s an unauthorized transaction and get a refund.

Almost 10 years ago I sold something locally to a stranger who answered my Craigslist ad. Asked me if he could PayPal I said sure and since he was picking up in person he did friends and family to avoid fees. We met up, I gave him the item and he sent the funds and we parted ways.

I transferred the funds to my bank, 3 days passed and it cleared. Another 3 days pass and he managed to reverse the transaction by saying it wasn’t authorized and even tho the funds cleared into my bank account, my PayPal went negative and they started attempting to collect the debt from me.

Moral of the story is scammers will find a way no matter the platform. Nothing is really bullet proof.

I've heard some horror stories with PP as well. They're def more lenient towards the buyer and not the seller.

OP it's worth a shot. Unless you used a debit card then you're prob shit out of luck.

If he used his debit card he can just file chargeback with his bank.

Banks aren't as lenient regarding chargebacks. They also take their jolly time when it comes to unauthorized charges. Took me months to get my money back.

Maybe my credit union is just really good. Local to Philly for Police and Firemen. Not sure how most other banks handle chargebacks but I've never had any problems when I needed to file chargebacks.

Paypal is utterly ridiculous. They have zero customer service and you can literally claim anything with their dispute systems as long as you are the one who does it first. lol

PayPal is fine for making purchases, but when it comes to money transfers they can really screw things up. I have sent money to friends through third parties with PayPal accounts and PayPal somehow decides that the transaction is fishy and freezes the funds until they can investigate and review the other person's account. I still have literally several thousand dollars hung up in PayPal from this and don't know if or when the money will ever be released. It's worth the extra fee to send it for goods and services so you're covered. The current fee is 2.9% of the money being sent plus $0.30.

I personally am not a PayPal fan and I refuse to pay that debt so I’m semi banned lol

When I had issues with my loba k04 and tried to file a dispute with them they outright told me no it’s been too long, so if you’re going to file a dispute make sure you do it within a 180 days I think it is or about 6 months

In my case the invoice was sent in February 2020 and paid with guest check out. Didn’t get to install the turbo until May 2020 - had issues with the turbo from day 1 - didn’t find out the turbo was bad and not anything else in the motor till September 2020 and tried to file a dispute with no luck. Wasted months trouble shooting ignition system and fueling thinking the issue was elsewhere

Attempted to file a charge back with my bank (bank of America) and they also said too much time had passed and try to work it out with the vendor (loba Motorsport)
