I am perfectly fine with in cabin sound. You put it into sport, you are going to get consistent back fires, out of sport it's smooth. When in the throttle slightly in comfort there is ever so slightly louder sounds. Cold start is quite loud, but settles down 2 seconds after start, as the valves close.

IMO - its a great improvement.

How much louder and more pops do you get from deleting the 3rd cat after doing the first 2?

There is no third cat. There are only two cats right behind the turbos. There are three resonators under the car. This thread is talking about removing the first two resonators. There is nothing gained by removing the third resonator.

Sorry I meant to say 3rd resonator. So removing the 2 near the front is good enough and removing the last resonator would not enhance the exhaust and pops more?

So at the end is it better to use absolutely straight pipes or the one with the little curve from bull-x are preferred? I was also thinking about this as possible solutions for drone or not that loud results..
I have a good shop here that can do it for me without bull-X, but with straight pipes..

Couple Sport Backs down here in Tampa had a shop do the Res-Delete and my Audi dealer is the one that sends folks to this shop. I machine it’s the same, but it not being bolt on.

New (to me) B9.5 RS4 owner here. After much research and combing through the above 132 posts - thanks to all - just pulled the trigger on the resonator delete from HG-Motorsport.
By the sounds of it, it's exactly what I'm looking for - OEM+.

Update: Installed on Friday - absolutely love. Cruising in Comfort it's almost like nothing has changed (which is awesome), but WOT and gearshifts in RS/Dynamic mode it sounds wonderful.
Audible overrun crackle and aggressive gear shifting in high revs/pedal mashed is a huge tick from me. And no drone.
I've taken a few videos which I'll upload. Thanks to this thread and commenters!

Could someone post a quick vid of startup and slow driving away, from inside the car? There are a lot of videos of startup and revs from outside of the car. I'd love to hear what this what sound like to me, from inside the car, for a normal, everyday event like starting the car and leaving a parking lot. Thanks!

Hiya sorry to pick this up again but loved the video car sounds amazing I am due to pick up a RS4 b9.5 next week and was tempted by a res deleted , what made you choose the HG Motorsport over the bull x ? I think the HG is a tad more expensive when I looked. Have you had any drone when driving on motorway ways , how much was installation?

    Cheers

Hey mate, no worries - happy to help.

HG Motorsport sell the official Bull-X resonator deletes.
I'm from New Zealand so everything always has a chonky shipping addon but HG Motorsport were amazing to deal with and sorted me out with a deal, around €370 landed. And took 6 days.
I haven't looked at pricing for a while but HG are currently €319 on their website and were the lowest price on the market at that point in time.
Installation was a bit pricey as I went with a reputable local euro specialist garage, I think it cost me £250... not cheap for a measure-cut-lift-clamp but I know it's done well.

Noise wise: Zero drone on the motorway, it's actually super quiet in the car driving normally.
If you shift into S or poke your car in RS mode and give it the beans, the flaps open up and she sounds properly mint.

I've gone 2 steps further by pulling the fuse for the flaps (so they're open all the time) and have recently installed a CTS intake. It does drone quite a bit now along with reasonably loud spooling but I'm used to it and really enjoy the sound - can give out some smashing crackles with whooshes on downshifts. Sometimes under load changing gears it gives out a full whistle.

Lots of words above there! But I wouldn't do anything different. I am a fan of these stock but absolutely love mine now.

Keen to hear what you do, keep us posted.

Hey guys, just bought my 21 rs5 sportback today. I also ordered yday Bull-X presilencer replacement pipes from hg motorsport. Is this only for the 2 front resonators, right? Also, if i delete the back resonator, are the valves still working? Is there something that would appear as an error if I delete the last resonator, the one at the back? Or heard something about the valves will not work anymore, or i heard wrong….

As i see in videos, it sounds really nice and loud with the bull x resonators delete, i wonder about the third one if i delete it too, how loud it is and if affects the car somehow or any error, if someone experienced this…

Yes, only the front two. Deleting the back resonator doesn't really do anything for the sound but it won't cause any issues or errors. The valves are further back, by the mufflers.

I just installed a Bull-X resonator on my RS5 Sportback B9.5. A strange thing is that the left pipe is very close to the car compared to the right one. I’m thinking of wrapping them in a heat-resistant material. What do you think? I’m worried that in the summer, when it’s very hot, it might catch fire due to the temperature.

    Bullx and resonator delete done

Did this on my 2021 RS5 b9.5 last Saturday on jackstands in the garage. Definitely an OEM+ mod, just enough of a change that I can tell but others may think it’s stock. Definitely enough of a boost in exhaust note that I haven’t turned the radio on since. Also not too bad of an install, would’ve been way easier on a lift of course. Definitely recommend this mod

Hey Jroyalty, i’ve done the same thing today. The right pipe is fixed good(i mean the distance between pipe and car), but the left pipe seems to be very close and than right one, i’m worried in the summer to not catch fire due the hight temperature, the guy who installed mine, adviced me to dress it in a flame-retardant material. What do you think?i have the same bullx pipes and the same car/year etc.

Hey I don’t really see too much to worry about, in my set at least, there’s plenty of heat shielding underneath and I don’t remember either pipe giving me uneasy vibes on how close they were to the car. Do my pictures look similar to your set up or is there a big difference?

It’s the same. Because if you watch at the stock resonators, the left one is different than right one just because of the distance between it and the car. Bullx pipes are same. You can also watch in your 4th/5th image at the left one is closer than right one at the half.
The sound indeed is louder at cold start, burbles are louder and also at the shifts. But i’m a bit worried about this…i know more people made the same setup and didn’t have any problem, but i’m sure all of the cars has the same difference between car and pipes

Honestly if it brings you peace of mind then I see no harm in doing what you want with it, wrap it, coat it in flame retardant, there’s no downside to doing it, so I say go for it, nothing can replace sleeping soundly at night
