Question regarding 55,000 mile service interval

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
When it comes to replacing spark plugs, should we replacing both spark plugs and ignition coils or will spark plugs be enough. I don't have any misfires currently.

Also, when it comes to replacing the drive-belt, I was told that there are two belts driving the motor (one being the supercharger belt and other being the serpentine belt), which belt specifically should be replaced at this interval? Also, is it manageable to replace both belts without having to put the vehicle in service position?

    Thanks

Just do the plugs, if you aren't having problems there is no need for the extra cost of coils.

Per the manual, only the SC belt gets done at 55k. Take the belly pan off and have someone help slip the belt off while you loosen the tensioner from under the car. It's tight as the fan motor is right in front of the SC belt tensioner (thanks Audi) but it can easily be done without going to service position.

Neither belt needs service position, but accessory belt is not scheduled before 75k, even then it's a check and replace as needed.

I looked at your profile and saw you have a 13, I attached the maintenance schedule for you too.

@djn876 thanks so much for sharing. Not to hijack but literally just hit 55K the other day.
Was wondering about the belt, thanks for clarifying and sharing all this info. Assume similar schedule for 2016 too.

Thank you @djn876 , you just reminded me that I need to download the stuff for the Q5 as well. I had everything from Erwin for my 2004 A6
