    Water Methanol Injection?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I've got a few weeks untill the car is in for mapping, thought I'd use the time wisely, fresh service, new plugs etc, I'm also wanting to fit WMI, because why not!

Going to go with the AEM v2 kit, still debating whether to go for a boot install or front end, scuttle, behind bumper etc!

What way are people mounting the nozzle? Bung in a charge pipe, or throttle body spacer if there is a such a thing for the B9?

Any recommendations on charge pipes with a pre welded bung in for the nozzle? Rather I'd have everything to hand first before doing the install!

Due to the layout of the charge pipes, I personally would not use WMI for extra fueling. There have been a few failures using WMI on cars running hybrid turbos and high boost, and you can't expect a good enough mix hitting each individual cylinder with a charge pipe setup.

If you are just looking for lower temps, then CTS turbo makes an aluminum charge pipe with 2 WMI bungs drilled into the middle of the pipe which I think is a really nice spot to lower IAT's with water injection, and I'm considering picking it up. Other options are BMS makes a throttle plate adapter which I have and use, but I don't think is very ideal due to it's proximity to the map sensors, and Integrated Engineering makes an intercooler with a bung on the outlet pipe. Alternatively you could someone to weld in a bung on either side of the intercooler, or possibly in the turbo housing itself.

Perfect, just what I needed to know! 👌

I'm using it purely for the cooling, I'd have a hard time trusting it if using it for supplementing fuel! 😂

So in your opinion changing the charge pipe out with some bungs in is a better option than the TB spacer?

Champion, I was wanting to change out the stock charge pipes anyways, just couldn't really justify the cost against gains!

Pretty much decided on installing the tank and pump in the boot, easier to install and easier to maintain! Would love to see other people's installs!

For what it's worth, Injen charge pipes include a bung post FMIC - https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/prod...er-pipes-s4-s5.

There's probably others too, I just know of this as I use the Injen pipes.

If you will buy Wagner FMIC there is aluminium charge pipe from IC to trottle included.

I would NOT recommend WMI pre intercooler I have dual nozzle TB direct and running 600whp effective. The problem you’re going to run into is you’ll have water built up in your intercooler.

Oh yeah I wouldn't dream of running the nozzle pre intercooler, the charge pipes with the bungs in is between the cooler and TB, just a shame there so damn expensive! 😂

I have Wagner FMIC + Charge Pipes.

There is a sensor in the bung, where would I move that sensor to if I installed WMI kit to inject in my charge pipe?

You would not move the sensor.

For the Injen pipes there is a separate bung for a meth nozzle.

I have followed and seen many of your posts - The record EPL times are all mine and I am debating going WMI. - Insurance and cooler runnings system all around is what I want more than anything, If it provides a higher ceiling should I go with a Hybrid Turbo so be it - Where do you think I should tap in at? I would prefer a purchasable solution, and one that doesn't require JB4 to monitor

My personal recommendation is to not build your system around your WMI integration (like most people on this platform), but rather use it purely as a cooling solution. I have seen too many of these cars run into engine problems due to WMI on big turbos. I would not tune one of these cars to depend on WMI.

I would recommend going with a solution as appears in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6hMnBy6XKc. You won't get as much power out as compared to tuning specifically from the WMI, but you will prevent the risk of your engine blowing / pistons melting if your meth runs dry or some other issue occurs.

Basically my thoughts exactly, btw have you seen his latest video?
The RS5 snapped the front differential gears in half on launch.
He had to get a whole 2nd ZF trans to fix

    I did yeah.

I highly, highly believe it was a fault with his TCU tune. There is no reason those gears should have broken - plenty of S4/S5s on much more power having no issues on prepped tracks.

Looks like his tuner slapped together an ECU and TCU tune in an hour or so. Fairly certain his TCU tune enabled constant AMAX.

I'd be wary of using them.

Hello everyone, I've been reading about WMI and I want to install it on my b9s4 . Are there any videos or other forums or threads that explain how this process works and what the best way to install and go about this process? Do the kits come complete or do you have to buy everything separate ? How does the system know when to spray and how do you adjust how much it sprays?
