B8 or B8.5: How do I know?

I have a 2013 S4. What VIN was the change over number. Or what date did they begin to make 8.5?

You have a B8.5, just look at your front end. The headlights are more sharp/angular and a different design than the B8. 2013 was the first year of the face lifted S4.

Just to add to hunter_killer's post, the backside of the B8.5 have different taillights as well.

2009 - 2012 were considered B8's, and 2013 - 2016 were considered B8.5's.

B8.5's have solid/complete "neon sign" looking LEDs on both the headlights and taillights, whereas B8's have individual LED bulb "dots" on both the headlights and taillights.
