Help me not break my glove box.

Just got an undamaged glove box door from a fellow member to replace mine with a broken hinge. I don't want to break this one so should I install the damper that came with the new door as it's made it this long, refurb the damper with some grease, or just leave the damper off completely? I like that it turns the light on and off and the slow release when you open the door but I know the dampers cause problems. If I leave it off I'm kind of concerned that the door flopping down will crack the hinge. Any thoughts?

Personally- if I had an unbroken one- I’d ditch the dampener altogether, and probably install a short black nylon strap to keep it from flopping open to the point of stressing the weak spot. I don’t use mine much and don’t care about not having the light.
