As if such thing exists but what the heck why not make one yourself(Audi has not been helpful to us in NA) I've read a few people have done it. I've heard good things about the 3.0T so I decided to try it. I got the DSG as I put too many miles and I want the convenience, plus I've never owned a dual clutch transmission car(I like the pop when tuned and shifting)

It's been in my head for a few months now and on Tuesday what started like "let me check the price on that" ended up getting me a smashed on the passenger side 2014 S4 technik - 147,000km. Car starts and has broken radiator and non existing passenger side headlight.

So long story short I will be making my own S4 in Allroad skin. Just got the car in the shop today so I am in the very begging. Quite excited but not done anything yet.

Let me know if you want me to post pictures of the process. I plan on working on it by myself most of the time and get a friend to help me with the heavy lifting - engine and transmission really. A couple of hours daily and full Sundays. I am not sure how long it'll take but slow is fast they say.

If anyone has an advise and wish to help with info it'll be all greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    G

    Did you get sport diff?

I have an Avant and an Allroad I plan on doing within the next few years. I hope you're able to keep some good notes and strong pics. Very interested in all the modules.

I have no idea. I found a couple pics when I was deep in the trenches while researching my own swap. I have a couple other pics of 3.0t allroads tho.

I know nothing about them. The only thing I do know about the brown allroad from my last posting is that pic was taken in the Montreal area.

Thank you. I've been hoping to find a thread specific to allroad to talk about the modules and whatnot. While the mechanics of the swap don't scare me even in the slightest, the electrical scares the bejesus out of me. I know I'll quickly get over my head with modules and vcds coding.

I hear you. It’s def daunting. Are you in the midst of a swap? Or is it calling your name right now? If you want my advice, dive in head first.

Where there is a will, there is a way.......

Oh, this one is actually mine

I am not in the midst of a swap, but it has been calling my name even before I ever started modding it. I also have a B8 Avant (2010) that I think I'll do first while I figure out my true path for the Allroad.

I specifically bought the Avant as a semi test dummy to play with problem areas. She had some pretty nasty oil consumption right off the bat so I swapped in a B8.5 Q5 motor. I just followed a few different threads on their processes and then just figured out the rest on my own. Like I said...the MECHANICS don't frighten me one bit. Turning wrenches has always been second nature. It's definitely not the first car I've done swaps on, and not the first VAG. My MK4 VWs didn't have a WHOLE lot of wiring and coding to be done, and I had some pretty amazing local people to lean on at the time. The Avant needed zero wiring and coding, so it was truly a piece of cake. Swapping motors on old Hondas was always a walk in the park, too. Engine harnesses come right off and so much was cross compatible that it felt more like kids Legos than any kind of mechanical work.

That wiring of the VAG, though... Worries me I'll get over my head, and there's really not a WHOLE LOT of resources out there for assistance...yet.

I'll be doing a 3.0 into the Avant. That's always been the goal. There are a few people in Audizine who are amazingly patient with you when you start to ask questions, so I'm not overly concerned. I demand sport diff, though, so it does add a layer.

The Allroad is undecided which way to go. I won't lie the thought of stuffing the RS5 motor in has always appealed, and that "desire" has only been amplified by Pacific Germans latest adventure.

But then I have another unfortunate "problem" as that I absolutely suck at documentation. I have never done any kind of build thread for exactly that reason. Not because I would never help anyone out...more because I do exactly what you mention and just "dive right in." Most of my problem solving is on the fly and happens so quick that pictures never happen or (tbh) I never realized it would be something that could/should be documented. All that is an unfortunate side effect, though, and is really my own guilt that I feel like I can never help someone else progress through their crap or get started...which is a good full circle Karma thing as I can't find anyone "helping me...*

I have recently found this guy on FB though:

    https://www.drive2.ru/r/audi/s4/985549/

There's bit of curve there as there's some troubleshooting at differences between us as EU. And let's not discredit the COST of doing this swap. It can NOT be cheap...and guessing at least double if not triple to get all the requirements from an RS5. I think user "Roman?" (can't remember his actual name) is doing some RS5 goodness to his allroad. I haven't checked into gus thread in a while.

OK... Done writing my book of whiney cry-baby selfish complaints.

    /shrug.

I'll get there. Just trying to take my time and figure out as much ahead of time as possible.

So you are on the right path. The silver allroad above is mine and it is RS5 swapped. It’s a bit of a Frankenstein, but the B8/8.5 platform is a bit like LEGO’s. Similar to the 4.0tt swap you linked above. While with my swap there was no road map, it ended up being a tad simpler than anticipated. We used lots of 3.0t swap info and had access to a dealership to handle the CP removal. The immobilizer was handled by the swapping of the proper modules to get it to fire. And even according to the 4.0tt swap linked above, we potentially could have used/swapped even less to get it to fire.

We ended up meshing the allroad BCM1 with the RS5 BCM2 together to get everything to talk. An easy way to describe this is the cluster shows a coupe when you open a door or the trunk, but the MMI still registers as the allroad with the RS5 vin.

No build thread. I made a photo journal on IG if you want to check it out: @the_wolf_in_sheeps_clothing

I researched at the beginning of last year, and after buying a donor at the end of March, the project officially kick off in early May, all while egging Brent (Sedan_Guy - the owner of the scuba blue PG swap) to do one too. Tyler at PG had been dying to do one and I actually considered sending mine to them. I just wanted to be involved in the build, and being in Boston would make that a difficult task.

I really should make a build thread, but I’ve never been much for sitting down and putting it out there. 2 young kids make finding that time difficult. But for the sake of the community, I should probably get something down so people can at least entertain the idea! Because it’s not as difficult as one would perceive. Convincing a coupe it’s an avant was easier than we thought!

No manual - the convenience of auto with always having dogs in the car is just too great. I do miss my manuals, but you know I'm building something else for that.

And I'm pretty sure I'm convinced the RS5 swap needs to happen in the allroad. The Avant can have the 3.0.

Hi Guys. First time it's been home. Had it's first shake down on the weekend. Had to wait a bit as I still had to transfer one seat belt and close off the back interior.

I apologise for no pictures of the process. It's been very very time consuming and it turns out I am not the guy that would stop and take a picture and continue. Documenting the process for me might be tougher that the process itself. Again my apologies. I was a bit naive in the beginning.

I have to say that the toughest part of all is the wiring. I used all modules from the S4 except the BCM2 - Allroad one was reprogrammed to fit. S4 has no trunk aid for closing (hardware is missing in the module itself).

I wrapped the interior in swade as well. Had to take the sunroof out and the shade in order to die it black.

The wire harness is complete from the S4 and I took all that I needed from the allroad - tail lights, rear washer hose, sunroof, rear trunk motors, soft close hatch, antenas, rear wiper motor, etc. Whatever the S4 doesn't have I took it from the allroad. Everything works. need a couple of parts that were broken but are on the way.

    A couple of pictures.

It turns out it's been 3 months to the day. I think I have about 150 hours in it. All by myself except for a bit of help doing the wiring from someone much smarter. I had to finish it and thanks god I got it right. Hehe. A pair of extra hands was needed here and there but really it was one man job - Sunroof comes to mind.

I am having real problem trying to figure out how to fit a quad exhaust on mine. It seems that the S4 diffuser does not fit in the allroad bumper. I don't want to cut the SS allroad diffuser because it's not going to look nice.

What are my options. What have you guys come up with. I am really at a dead end here.

    Thanks for the help.

Most of us that have done these swaps have used 2009-12 Avants, which have a rear bumper that can fit the s4 quad outlet, or aftermarket options for any of the a4/s4 rear bumpers. I would reach out to Makisupa as his rs5/Allroad probably solved this issue.

Unfortunately, I did not solve this issue. I wanted to run the RS diffuser with oval tips, but decided against it and ran a custom 2.5” true dual system using the stock diffuser with black 100mm AWE tips. I’ll track down some pics.

Thanks for the reply guys. I keep looking at pictures and I will try and see if the S4 rear diffuser pre-facelift will fit the Allroad. Has anyone test fitted one of these?

It's worth a shot. I just don't want to chop diffusers or exhausts. This way as well any S4 exhaust will be a direct fit. Worth a shot.

    Cheers

So I got a bumper from a 2011 Audi S4 and it does not fit. It was a long shot but I had access to one so I tried it.

Does anyone know if our diffuser is the same as the B8.5 non s-line? It'll make it easier to find a quad exhaust one from ebay.

    That's my next quest.

    Cheers

    Congrats on the swap!

My solve for my "Sheep in Wolf's Clothing" has been a Euro S4 Avant rear bumper with the Allroad flares/mounting points molded on. Sedan S4 and Avant S4 diffusers are the same -- I dropped my friend's S4 sedan OEM diffuser into my bumper since it didn't come with one (shipped from the UK).

I'm sure it's been covered somewhere, but is the Q5 a completely different platform or would SQ5 work as donor? It already has a hatch and all that jazz for wiring.
