The Q5/SQ5 is on the same platform as the allroad and uses the same ZF8 transmission, so it should be an even closer match than an S4. I personally liked the ZF8 in my allroads better than the 7spd DSG in my B8 S4 anyway. And, as you mentioned, because they have a hatch, there might be fewer wiring and coding headaches. I'd love to see someone confirm this with an SQ5 > allroad swap, but there probably a lot fewer SQ5 donors than there are S4 donors available.

    Thanks for confirming the thoughts!
Now, would the drivetrain be usable as well?
That is, the wiring would be more suitable with SQ5 having a hatch/rear wiper etc. If SQ5/Q5 suspension setup is the same, then if one if one wants to end up with a 3.0T Allroad instead of S4 Avant, then all one would need is the fully dressed engine block and complete body harness with modules and retain ZF8 etc.?

    Very true.

Do we know the list of electronics that are coded to the ECU and, therefore, have to be swapped?
Are those all modules listed in a standard VCDS scan?

The reason for my questions is that I wonder if one could get a long block 3.0T with all its sensors, engine harness and then separately get an ECU, body harness and body modules from a Q5/SQ5. Would that work?
Since Q5 was never offered with a manual, would adding a manual tot he mix be a problem for a Q5-sourced ECU vs one from an S4?

You just need a sq5 vcds scan to see the model number of the cp protected modules. if they are same as a 8.5 s4 they can likely be recoded.

If you can get engine/trans/ecu/tcu ect. I dont see why you wouldnt get everything else. Most of those modules are pretty specific and there are hundreds on ebay. Im sure the seller would want to work a deal for all since selling piece meal would take time and quite a bit of effort

I can provide a vcds scan on an sq5 if you give me a few days. But yeah, I don't see why it wouldn't work. SQ5 is basically identical to the s4, just bigger and with a zf trans.

The Q5 also comes with a 3.0t and may be easier to get (salvaged). Does it have theZf8, too?

The 3.0T Q5 comes with the ZF8 as far as I know. Would you even need to swap the trans and TCU since they're the same in both cars? Could you just swap the engine and ecu and change whatever coding is needed?

Could potentially be a much easier swap than trying to source an S4, those Q5 complete motors are sitting around 3k on car-part.

    +1

And module coding shouldn't be any different than doing retrofits, correct?
That is swap the hardware (engine and ECU) and pay the dealer whatever crazy sum to remove component protection and adapt modules to the ECU.

I guess potentially we would need the engine wiring harness too for the 3.0 just to have all the correct modules.

You guys got me wanting to spend money I don't need to and swap a perfectly good 2.0T out.

The SQ5 and Q5 with 3.0T would be much easier swap than what I did. Coding is not really an issue. Registration of the modules is what really makes it a bit harder. Find a guy that can register them with Audi online. Once this is done and the module is unlocked go "bananas". If you really want to do it and have the money and place (you need a nice big garage) go for it. Either donor car is fine, just whatever makes you happier. You can't go wrong with either.

lots of people would pay good money for your 2.0t. Just sayin.

Hands down best "mod" Ive ever done to a car. The seeminly endless pull to 7k is amazing.

Since SQ5/Q5 was never offered with a manual, would such donor pose a problem if one wants to also convert to a manual?
Going the ZF8 route would be surely easier, but mewants 3 pedals.

Looks like the ZF8s are NOT the same between the 3.0 and 2.0 cars, otherwise 034, IE, etc. would be offering TCU tunes for us lowly 2.0 owners (IE has specifically said they will not make a tune for 2.0 ZF8).

You're right, it appears that the Q5 ZF is 0BK300038E001, while the allroad is 0BK300040K002. Strangely enough the regular A4 has a different part number too than the allroad: 0BK300040J002

the powerband of a 2.0t and 3.0t mated to a zf8 would be considerably different. Not saying they couldn't be different but its not exactly like the tcu tunes avaliable for 3.0 motors woukd be copy and paste files.

Hi guys. Resurrecting this thread. Last we were discussing a quad exhaust tip diffuser. I managed to find one:https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...148863090.html

Fitment is good. Only issue is a small gap on the driver side. It's pretty hard to see but it's there. Otherwise good quality. I use the magnaflow exhaust system.
Let me know what you think.

How much downforce did you gain?

    Kiddin'! :)

Haha. I know. I've modified a couple of cars but even that's been enough to realize that noting beats factory. For quality and fitment (99% of the time).

If for whatever reason I decide that I want to go incognito again I still have he old diffuser and some 90 degree SS pipe to divert one of the tips.

I do like the sound of the magnaflow. Not too loud.

    Cheers

Did you complete this build ? Looking to swap my allroad but using the q5 as the donor they’re really common and while the manual is cool the zf8 should be able to handle some good power it’d be faster and get better gas mileage

I'm not the OP, but feel free to reach out with questions. I just wrapped my S4 swapped allroad this year.
