Has anyone been able to find the part numbers for the S4 rear calipers in case we want to order new ones? :)

I'm sure you can find them easily with a little bit of searching.

I've been mean and not replying to anyone because it took me a long time of searching and looking though this forum and the S4 forum, along with other websites for information so I wouldn't make a mistake of buying the wrong stuff, to just give that information out to a bunch of lazy people. So instead of replying to everyone one by one, I've decided to make this thread.

This is NOT a DIY. But you will have to search for Porsche sites yourself to buy the calipers if the site I used is out of stock. Please do not ask me to look for you, I will verbally destroy you.

The reason why I think the Macan/Q5 calipers are the best upgrade for us instead of the bigger 6 piston calipers, is because you get a bigger rotor, 4 piston calipers, and you can use it to their full extent WITHOUT swapping the brake master cylinder. Macan/Q5 uses the same BMC as ours, as does the S4. For this reason alone I didn't go for the bigger 6 piston calipers, because you won't have the full benefit without swapping the brake cylinder and booster, which I was NOT planning to do.

Yes 3.0T Q5 calipers are the same as Macan. The reason people are going Macan calipers is because they're half the price, so you'd be a fool to buy Q5 calipers.

You will have to buy bigger rotors (345mm) You can use either 2015-2019 Macan (trims in attached image), 2012-2017 3.0T Q5 rotors, or 2010-2016 S4 rotors. I recommend S4 rotors because they are muuuch easier to find and have lots of options.

For brake pads, you have to buy 2015-2019 Macan brake pads, 2012-2017 3.0T Q5 brake pads. Those have a sensor slot, but you don't HAVE to use it. I zip tied mine to the side. I think ECS makes a delete kit, but zip ties are a lot cheaper. Alternatively, you can use 2010 Subaru STI brake pads, so you have lots of brake pad options there. I went with EBC Red Stuff so I ordered them for a 3.0T Q5.

I reused my brake lines because there was nothing wrong with them. I don’t track the car so SS lines weren't needed. Yes they're a little stronger I guess, but if they broke internally there would be no way of knowing you have an issue with them versus the stock rubber ones that you can see when something is wrong. I've never used SS lines in my other cars, including my old track built car. But YMMV.

I bought the calipers off https://www.harperautoparts.com
I believe they were $247 each last time I checked. I bought the rest of the stuff off ECS. They didn't have the ducts, clamps, and shields in stock so they had to source it elsewhere. You might be able to source them faster (and cheaper).

Driver side Macan part number: 95B-615-123-F
    Passenger side Macan caliper: 95B-615-124-F
Driver side Macan dust shield: 95B615311E
Passenger side Macan dust shield: 95B615312G
Driver side Macan brake air duct: 95B615447B
Passenger side Macan brake air duct: 95B615448B
Macan brake air duct clamp: 95B699011B (you'll need two)

You don’t need to change the dust shield, the bigger rotors will fit without modifications (I checked by mounting them before taking them off). I did because I wanted to use the air ducts. You don't have to use the air ducts either. The reason you have to use the Macan dust shields if you want to use the air ducts is because they have an open area where the stock ones are fully closed. So it would be pointless to use the air ducts with the stock shields.

The upgrade is night and day difference. Take this advice though, they feel incomplete. What I mean is, yes they felt great, way better than stock, but the difference wasn't as big until I also swapped to S4/S5 rear calipers. Now THAT was a huge difference. Like going from stock tuning to stage 2. Think about doing that as well. I didn't do them at the same time so if you decide to wait on the rears then that's okay.

I think that about covers it. If I forgot some stuff I'll edit in the future.
So i placed the order for the calipers through harper auto parts, and i received an email requesting a vin number. What did you do at this point ?

Just tell them it's for your Audi? Their terms and condition says they request VIN number so they know you're getting the proper part or else they won't refund you if you order the wrong one.

Tell them you don't have it. Someone will probably call you asking to get it but just say you don't have it and that's the car you need it from. They called me too and the guy really wanted my VIN. Lol.

I called Harper auto parts and the representative got right to the point and asked if i was installing these on an audi. I said yes and he said he just wanted to verify this was the part i needed. He had no problem releasing the order.

Wonder if Porsche/VW is curious if all these orders for new calipers are because they are failing...I imagine this caliper must be an outlier in part sales for them!

It's a little ridiculous how much more expensive the Q5 set is compared to the Macan. The only good thing about the Q5 calipers is that it comes ready to paint.

You can take this for what it is but here is the compatibility of the rear S4/5 calipers as per ECS. These models are what I shopped to find my used rear upgrade for the A4/Allroad. These generally go for about $180-$200 on the used market, less if you pull yourself from a yard, takes about 15-20 minutes tops, eBay usually has a few available.

I actually think they might fit. I came across them after I did my conversion but they look exactly like the SQ5/s4/s5 rears with the name plate.

The Macan rears would be great because they have the plate. There are several sets on ebay - prices aren’t too bad. The actual SQ5/s4 ones with the plate are unobtanium. I found a pair and repainted them (they originally had the SQ5 logo on the plate). The only difference on the macan rears seems to be that they have a wear sensor.

It only makes sense that these platforms would share parts. All the specs match up. Macans have 330mm rears too. Here’s a link to a current eBay listing:

I’m sure these are the same front calipers that are fitted as standard to my A7 272 tdi (facelift), which runs a 345mm front rotor.

    And the money question:
What wheel slzes fit over the Macan swap? I know 18s will since they are stock for the Q5. Will 17's squeeze over?

I easily fit 17s on my BMW with 325mm rotors. The Q5 rotors are 345s to work with the Macan calipers.
About to pull the trigger on some Macans so it'd be nice to know!

Edit: I researched S5 17s a bit, seems to definitely be workable depending on the wheel itself.

According to Tirerack, it seems the highest offset you can run is 35et. My guess is that most 17" wheels aren't. Could be wrong though.

Funny. My 2012 B8 Quattro A4 already has the Shields for larger rotors front and rear. Is this Normal. Also I am thinking of selling my Porsche Macan Front calipers because I want to get the R8 larger brake kit from ECS tuning.

So i was wondering the same thing...my OEM A4 17" wheels fit with maybe 5mm of clearance between the wheel and the caliper and absolutely no rubbing !

Just FYI, I ordered the Macan parts for my car this morning. I went through porschepartsnow.com because they were about $20 cheaper for the parts, but they were also $50 cheaper on shipping due to being in California where I am. Seems like most Porsche dealer websites can source these about the same price.

I finally ordered mine yesterday. I ended up with AutoHaus Parts Delivered. The low shipping to NH ($18.36) really skewed it.

Porsche Macan L/R front calipers ($243.55ea/$505.36 delivered):

FWIW, if there was no price difference, I would have gone with Q5 calipers, but the absolute cheapest I could find them after much searching was $816.15. Holy crap. Porsche Macan, it is.

I would have too since the Q5 caliper is just a flat gray. No sanding or anything required unlike the Macan, unless you want to keep the Porsche logo. A $600 difference for the same item is absurd.

Not yet. One front was in stock and arrived a few days ago, rest of the stuff is supposed to arrive today. I have some S4 rears that shipped yesterday. My rotors should arrive in a day or two and my color swatches from https://www.prismaticpowders.com/ should be here today as well.
I have to rebuild an S4 rear caliper and clean the used rear dust guards. Then probably weekend of May 1 I will do my actual build. Remove carriers and old stuff from the car on Friday, powder coat on Saturday, install new on Sunday.

Hello all. I'm about to do this upgrade myself and I want to be sure I have this all correct. On my 2010 S5, I have the needed front rotors and the rear setup is fine? I believe that is what is being said. The only upgrade is the front calipers ( ss lines, brake pads I'm aware of)? I have the Porsche calipers on order so I just want to be sure that I have this correct.

Thanks for all the great info!

Yeah, if you already are an S5 (not A5), then the rear brakes are good and you just need the front upgrade.

I got my rotors last night, just need one dust shield for the front now that is backordered. Later today going to start prepping all the parts for powder coat and order my powder from Prismatic Powders

I am going with "Soft Lazer Burgundy" which actually looks really good with the meteor grey.

The rotors are black hub and black non-braking surfaces. I am trying to decide if I want to do the splash/dust shields in the same Soft Lazer Burgundy or if I want to do them just black.

Thank you! I should have my stuff in a few weeks. I'm going with Mazda's Competition Yellow for the calipers. I'll post up some photos when they are done.

Just the main event Burgundy, it will give contrast as its already very dark. If you’re doing a logo it will help.

You can still check ECS, FCPEuro, Europa and others. Last time I checked a few weeks ago they had them.
