I've seen them mentioned when perusing short shifter threads. I've also seen some say this shifter plate, with another companies short throw, but don't remember which. CR15 and 034 RSB are my first mods, unsure after that though.

The CR15 and RSB are great mods, I just installed the CR15 2 weeks ago and it's awesome. While you're at it you should check out Moog end links when you install the RSB. JXB is also currently developing a beefier and more adjustable bar but it won't be out till fall in the S4 FB group.

You won't find a better knob for the money than the euroimpulse. BFI, JHM, etc are probably 2-3x heavier, but also 4-5x more expensive. I love the knurled aluminum feel, it's years old now and not a mark on the finish.

Someone earlier mentioned this one as well. It looks nice, but I'm concerned how it'll deal with extreme hot and cold. My custom 350ZR knob was great, until it was warm out. I'd rather not have to put a sock on it, especially with half the year being winter.

I've hopped in the car when it's 100 degrees out. Sure, the knob is hot, but not too hot you can't hold it imo.

Hot isn't as big if a concern than cold. -25 all day while at the ski Hill isn't fun lol.

I seriously considered getting a EI knob before I landed on Sportshifters, imo if you don't have a short shifter it sticks up so much it honestly looks like a tractor.

From the pictures I've seen, I'd agree with that. I'd like a countersunk one, but haven't found any. Had one on my 350ZR and S2000 and you could really feel the difference.

[QUOTE=3.0ss;14238208]+1 for custom Sportshifters knob, you can customize one to your liking which is awesome. I chose the heaviest weight option on mine and installed it weighs about 400grams. The quality is amazing and I absolutely love it!

@3.0ss Looks great. Can you confirm if that's the GT1?

Maybe I missed it, but it would have been nice if they had more details on the variants: relative size, weight, etc..

Bringing this from the dead. I didn't see anybody mention Raceseng in this thread. Any opinions on them? I was set to get a BFI, but then after $45 USD just on shipping, I was over $250 CAD for a shift knob. Mind you the more I look, that seems to be the going rate. BFI, Raceseng, SportShifters all seem to be at that price. I wanted one with leather or something instead of just metal. The UroTuning Edition Shift Knob is interesting at only $99 plus shipping, but then I gotta wait till Feb.

I have the uro tuning knob.
    Heavier than the bfi.
It’s sits low on the shift lever, but can be adjusted.
Looks very nice with the rest of the interior.
Ive only had it a few days.

I like that it sits lower, and the price is right. How long ago did you order it? I was hoping for a blue one, but I have a blue shift boot, so maybe a blue knob would be too much.

I looked at Racesengs but imo they look like chodes lol, don't want to be touching that. I also looked into the UroTuning knob before they came out but went with the Sportshifters because I'd rather have the shift pattern on top than some company's logo.

20 dollar carbon fiber shift knob from China. I drilled and tapped a few holes on the part under the boot so that it really bolted hard onto the channel in the lever. Not weighted, but I really like it, especially for the price.

Another vote for EuroImpulse - I have the S4 6-speed pattern one, with my ECS short shifter on the lowest possible setting - it's absolutely perfect!

I actually like the stock knob. May be upgrading to the jbullin short shift / plate combo soon, though. At 85k miles, it's developed quite a bit of "slop"

The stock knob is pretty good all things considered. I'd just like it to be a bit heavier. I was going to order the UroTuning one but it's back to regular price and on back order, so I'll wait. I'm getting the JXB Ultimate Shift Kit for Christmas and have a new blue leather with red stitching shift boot, so I'll get all that installed and see how I feel about the stock knob after that. Probably better to go this route anyway because I was wanting a blue knob, but it might be too much with the shift boot.

Unrelated to this thread though, my 034 RSB arrived yesterday and is getting installed tomorrow. Really excited for that one. 20201209_093652.jpg20201209_093700.jpg20201209_093752.jpg

I forgot how HIGH that stock shifter knob sits. You need to ditch the tractor look. :)

A note about the stock knob. Being full leather, it’s does feel nice just not heavy.
The uro knob is half leather on top. Would be nice if these knobs were full leather.

You need a short shifter to lower it, don't you? I have the JXB kit coming with the short shifter bracket already. I do agree though, I don't like how high it sits which was why I wanted a countersunk knob. But that just don't seem to exist for our cars.

I think you COULD probably just hack off part of the OEM shifter to make it shorter... the nice thing about the EuroImpulse knob is actually that you can move it up or down on the shifter shaft... there is a hole in the middle... so i think that is what you're looking for?

I have the weighted BFI Magma paired with J&H short shifter for my B8.5 S4 and I love it.

I can also vouch for the Canyon Run CR15 strut brace. Makes a world of the difference, so noticeable I could tell while leaving the drive way.

We're going to the in-laws for the holidays so I'll put my order in for that and a shift knob about a week before we come back. Still torn on which shift knob.

    I'm down to:
Raceseng Stratose blue - $280 CAD. The blue might be a bit vibrant and not look good with my blue shift boot in hindsight.
BFI in blue leather - $265 CAD. Leather looks to closely match my shift boot, but it's not cheap
Euro Impulse piston - $140 CAD, but all metal worries me in winter and summer when not parked in the garage.

I’ve always been a huge fan of BFI. A lot of color options and they’re stuff is top qualify. I’ve had it for about 2 years now and it still looks like new, I do clean it often as well.

Keep in mind the metal shift knobs is going to get super hot during the summer and freezing during the winter.

That's why I'd prefer one with at least some leather on it. I get there's an Audi tax, but neat $300 CAD seems like so much for a shift knob lol.

Thanks, I keep a decent watch on the B8 S4 classifieds, but that's the only section. I plan on ordering one soon as I want to install it and my JXB kit all together after Christmas break.

Keep in mind the metal shift knobs is going to get super hot during the summer and freezing during the winter.

I was pretty nervous that the shades of blue would be different enough to look stupid, but I took the gamble anyway. Got my BFI knob today and its nearly a perfect match, really happy. That said, now I'm wishing I ordered the red top coin instead of the black one to bring out the red stitching. Oh well. Hope to get these, along with my full JXB kit installed this weekend.

Also picked up my CR15 today. Should be a good weekend :). 20210122_144412.jpg

Nice match! They’ll sell you a red top coin for like $350. Hahah

I had the red coin top on my first GT4. Just FYI what it looks like.

Went with SportShifters. Love it. Not sure why I waited so long but I’m glad I did everything separately : valve delete, short shifter, weighted shift knob.

Although I think I need to raise it a little.
