Here's a fun one. Bought a new set of Vorsteiner Carbon Graphite wheels and had Discount Tire mount them with the stock Conti summer tires. They used silver wheel weights to balance the wheel/tire. Weights stand out even though they are adhered to the inner barrel. I've never really paid much attention to this, but now that I noticed it, my eyes are drawn to them like flies to sh#%...
So, what other options are there for getting the weights a darker color short of going back to the shop and getting black weights? A quick internet search returned a few hits on other automotive forums suggesting using paint pens.
I have a bunch of Plasti-Dip left over from a long ago project. Would that work? My assumption is that the minimal additional weigh from the Plasti-Dip wouldn't be enough to unbalance the wheel. Challenges I see with this route is somehow taping off the rest of the wheel to avoid overspray.
Come to think of it, the spacers I'm going to use are light colored also. Could I paint/Plasti-Dip the outer, exposed edges (avoiding the inner/outer faces of course)?
Anyone "solved" this another way?
