    Color Matched Wheel Weights?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Here's a fun one. Bought a new set of Vorsteiner Carbon Graphite wheels and had Discount Tire mount them with the stock Conti summer tires. They used silver wheel weights to balance the wheel/tire. Weights stand out even though they are adhered to the inner barrel. I've never really paid much attention to this, but now that I noticed it, my eyes are drawn to them like flies to sh#%...

So, what other options are there for getting the weights a darker color short of going back to the shop and getting black weights? A quick internet search returned a few hits on other automotive forums suggesting using paint pens.

I have a bunch of Plasti-Dip left over from a long ago project. Would that work? My assumption is that the minimal additional weigh from the Plasti-Dip wouldn't be enough to unbalance the wheel. Challenges I see with this route is somehow taping off the rest of the wheel to avoid overspray.

Come to think of it, the spacers I'm going to use are light colored also. Could I paint/Plasti-Dip the outer, exposed edges (avoiding the inner/outer faces of course)?

    Anyone "solved" this another way?

    Color Matched Wheel Weights?

Vinyl would work too. Clean it with alcohol and cut strips to cover it. 5 min job per wheel.

Plastidip will look like garbage pretty quickly with the debris, heat, and chemical cleaners wheels get.

Plastidip will work and stand up no problem. I've plastidipped 6 sets of wheels over the years including inner barrels and they will hold up for a couple of years and i clean my wheels weekly with both wheel cleaner and a power washer. What i would do is actually get a color matched sharpie. That will take you a couple of minutes to do other than the time it takes to remove the wheel.

Yeah, I always run black weights on anything but silver wheels. Why not order black weights, remove and replace yourself with matching weight/oz?

Hmmm, I like this solution. It didn't even really occur to me to do this myself. Must be my advanced age...

I Plasti-Dipped them yesterday. Install of wheels will be in a couple days (waiting on bolts to be delivered). Also Plasti-Dipped the outer side of spacers. I'll probably end up painting them with caliper paint at some point. I figured that Plasti-Dip can be removed pretty easily so I could "reverse" things if I need to.
