Resonator Delete - Is something wrong?

Had a shop install the CTS Resonator Delete on my car today. Other than that, exhaust is completely stock. They told me there is a very tiny pinpoint leak up front, but I shouldn't be too concerned right now since there is no check engine light and isn't really changing the tone. Keep in mind, I'm a newbie to this and this is a different shop than my usual, so I'm not sure what to believe.

Car sounded fine, a bit louder but nothing crazy, as I expected. After the gym tonight, I was driving and it still sounded as it did, but after I launched the car, it's like the exhaust all of a sudden opened up. Now it is pretty loud and raspy, compared to how it was. After the launch, it just changed the tone, and now it stays like that. I don't mind it, but my friends said it sounded a bit odd.

Should I be concerned with this? I have a catted downpipe coming, so this should take care of the "tiny pinpoint" leak, I assume, depending where it's at.

To me, I think it's fine, but my friend's reaction is what worried me.

If I remember correctly the resonator needs to be cut out and they may have cut too much out or caused other issues cutting. Put your hands near the rear tail pipes and see if theres any flow. And I'd bring it back regardless of what other parts coming that may resolve it, unacceptable for a service you paid for.

WOW...I did the resonator delete and it made barely any difference in sound at all!

People, its just a short piece of pipe, replacing another short piece of pipe that is like a simple muffler. Tiny leaks at couplers are not uncommon and nothing to worry about. Its not rocket science. On the S3 at cold start or in sports mode the stock muffler opens up a valve bypassing some of the muffler and gets louder with or without the resonator. The "resonator delete" just makes it slightly louder, especially in sport mode. If its loud like you have no muffler at all, then something fell off otherwise it sounds like you got what you asked for?

    * Note, A3 and S3 exhaust are NOT the same as far as I know so S3 probably louder than A3

I had Audi do mine while it was in for service and the car got much louder. However, like everyone is saying, if the car got louder after the launch then something may have come apart. crawl under there and give her a wiggle. you will see if its not right!

Maybe it's time to pull out the rhino ramps/jack stands and check it out!

Probably a loose clamp/connection. Get under the car and take a look.

Which is why I never take my car to a "Mechanic" and do my own work (and sometimes design and machine/fabricate my own parts). I've met maybe 3 in my whole life - the rest were just parts changer monkeys that didn't understand the engineering any better than my mom would.

The delete pipe came loose. Get underneith it and I'll bet the front clamp came off and the pipe isn't connected.

My S3 with res delete does not sound like this. I don’t have any pops or backfire when releasing throttle as well.

Yup, this is what it was.

Got it all tightened up and now the car sounds nothing like the video haha

Same thing happened to me. I was driving home from work, took off from a stop light and BOOM... instant change in sound! I ended up buying a better clamp and haven't had any issues since.

Any idea what the clamp you bought is? Mine got loose again.

Sorry I missed your reply. If you haven't found a clamp yet, I picked mine up from Summit Racing. Simple lap joint band clamp and I haven't had any issues with it.
