    B8.5 DP 6MT exhaust considerations

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am looking for my Stg 1 IE 6MT B8.5 S4 to go DP.
I'm sorting out s/c pulley and crank pulley with IE.
Likely i'll go Merc Hx or CTS Hx
I have a CTS Intake (love the whine)
Stock clutch (S/S line purchased but not installed)

What considerations are there for the stock exhaust system?
Can you do a DP setup with stock exhaust?
I've read the catalytic converters will likely eventually fail due to excess heat (which i can deal with down the road)
Will a stock exhaust affect power delivery much or cause other concerns?

Looking for your advice on this. Ideally i'd like to keep the exhaust note down as much as possible and leave stock if i can. If not, then it'll be something freer flowing with low noise.

Stock is adequate, cats will eventually go, no real gain to exhaust but for sound.

Many have changed the center resinstor to an un-muffled X-pipe merge which sounds good like a stock exhaust on steroids

that's all i needed to hear...just wanted to be sure i didn't need to change my stock exhaust over for another $3-5k Cdn to accomodate a DP or single pulley setup.
Still trying to decide what to do....

I don’t have a changed exhaust In my car. I like the sound of the stock one. It is still vocal from outside with the window down but as the cabin is so well acoustically insulated from what’s outside it seems.

If anything I’ll do the X-pipe resonator delete.

Both me and the Mrs are in our 50’s so we have had our time with noisey cars
