AGM battery coding on OBDeleven. "Fleece" or "Binary-AGM"?

I recently installed an Autozone DuraLast platinum AGM battery on S3. When I was doing the battery coding, I didn't see "AGM" so I picked "Binary-AGM.". Then I read that fleece may possibly be common european name for AGM battery?

So which option are people using when coding their AGM battery?

I used binary agm as it's the only option.

Ok, thanks. Read somewhere that fleece can also mean AGM. Hopefully more people will chime in.

AutoZone batteries are agm, not fleece. They are interchangeable in wording but fleece is how battery is built. Fleece equivalent are yellow top .

FWIW, I installed the same battery in my '16 S3 last fall and chose Binary-AGM. No issues thus far.

    Cool..thanks for sharing..

I emailed tech support at OBDeleven and asked if they can provide clarification. Still waiting for their answer.

The correct setting for AGM batteries is fleece. European cars with AGM batteries from the factory are set to fleece. I think it’s a weird translation from German.

Here in there states it's set to AGM, not fleece from factory, because as stated before it's how the battery is built ("fabric" in the battery) that determines which setting.

I’ve yet to see an admap with Binary-AGM set from the factory. Everyone who says to use binary-AGM, installed an AGM battery and changed the adaptation themselves.

Can you please provide where you got the information that Binary-AGM is correct?

Directly from the car, from factory. Then again when replacing the battery from the dealership.

The procedure is also laid out in the Odis instructions when replacing.

Here are 4 reference admaps of different cars set to fleece from factory. There are many more on the Ross-tech forums. I doubt all these cars were coded incorrectly from the factory. Can you provide an Admap that shows Binary-AGM? What car came from the factory as Binary-AGM? Your own car?

Well, got email reply from OBDeleven tech support and the answer was basically they are not sure which is option is correct for AGM battery sold in the US.

I will contact Deutsch Autoparts to see if Paul had an answer

AGM battery coding on OBDeleven. "Fleece" or "Binary-AGM"?

Another interesting thing is that in Vag Can Pro, Binary AGM is listed as “Bipolar AGM”, which is definitely the incorrect type of battery. The car in the video is set to “Vlies” which is the German translation of fleece. Given all this info, I would set your battery to fleece. I’ve been running my AGM battery for 2 years set to fleece without any issues.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.. I will search Ross-Tech forum...

BTW, I just called Deutsch Autoparts and spoke with someone (not paul), but my question was deferred to manufacturer..so that wasn't helpful since the company behind OBDeleven didn't have an answer.

Ok..I am convinced after reviewing these factory gateway 19 settings. Will switch to "fleece" on my battery technology setting
