Audi Raleigh forgot to fill my vehicle with oil

    Audi Raleigh

I own a 2015 Audi S3 Prestige. I purchased it Brand new from Audi Raleigh here in Raleigh, NC. On June 12, 2020 I dropped my vehicle off for its scheduled 95,000 mile service at about 7:30am. I picked up just before 6pm. All seemed well until this Sunday morning (June 14, 2020), the oil light came on just before I arrived to work. I at first assumed it was just an electrical error.
So I went inside to open up the pharmacy I work at. An hour later I came back outside and with the car on level ground in our parking lot I checked the oil level and was very upset to find it nearly at the bottom of the dipstick.

At this point the dealership is closed on Sunday. So I call Audi of America. The representative with roadside assistance set me up with a tow to the dealership and had the keys left in their overnight drop off box. My biggest concern is the damage incurred by the engine. How can Audi and the dealer help to resolve the mistake made here? I would be surprised if the turbo wasn’t starved of oil plus other damage to the engine. This vehicle has been only serviced by Audi Raleigh since day one. I assumed I would have many more miles left in this vehicle’s life, but now I am not confident in that.

I'm very sorry to learn about this situation, I know it must have been extremely aggravating to have to go through this situation especially since you have been servicing your vehicle with Audi Raleigh from day one. I'm glad that you were able to connect with Audi Roadside and get the vehicle towed, have you had any conversation with the dealer yet in terms of what happened? I'd be happy to look into the situation further for you and ensure all opportunities are being explored to make this right for you, please feel free to PM me your VIN and contact information so I can do so.

    Thank you,
    Vincenzo F.

I had dealers overfill with oil. Techs are just slammed with work and have to rush they jobs. Dealers also have to stay somewhat competitive with independent shop.
So for simple things like oil change, just do it at home and recycle old oil properly.

Our dealership here in Indy is horrid. Overfills, no fills, and they break stuff. Sounds like they left out a quart, so your engine is fine. That said, I'd scan for codes, log them, and keep it in a folder. I had an overfill warning on my new S5....overfilled by about .2 quarts from the factory. I just saved the data.

Oil light on comes on at a quart low, you made it sound like you were driving around with no oil, and the reality is you would not have made it very far.
Put a quart in, be in your way and call them and tell them they owe you a quart. He forgot to " top it off" that's all, there is no damage to your car.

Exactly. I thought so too. If there is oil on the dipstick fill up, let them know and maybe do a double-check before you leave.... to tow your car for that...wow

Not always a good ides. Some dealers and auto manufacturers would void your warranty if you change your oil yourself. GM for example.

Did your dealership tell you that? Warranty can only be voided if there is evidence you damaged the car from your DIY oil change..

The old they have to prove it thing doesn't fly in real life only on Forums. Dealers galore have flagged cars for exhaust swaps and in some cases even suspension upgrades. Anything they see as not stock give them reason to not work on your car.

If your looking for someone else to look at it besides the dealer, head on over to Apex Tuning and talk with the Kevins. They’ll get you set. Great dudes and recommend for all Audi/VW work

Better yet do it yourself. Your own oil. No hassle

I used to deal with Audi Raleigh quite a bit. But the relationship soured after they left the coolant return line unsecured. And I had an advisor try to shift the blame. "we wouldn't have touched that unless we changed the spark plugs". DUH you guy did the service that required a spark plug change. They also told me that if the front bumper was removed that the driver assistance options would need to be "recalibrated". NOT TRUE. What I have was a bad sensor. THEN I had them install a Miltek full exhaust. Once again, 2nd day, the tailpipe was hanging. Needless to say, I don't use them anymore. For a STEALERSHIP they seem woefully bad as servicing Audis

No sir, I don't think stealerships actually care about independent shops. They depend on customer loyalty and brand reputation. And yes, do it yourself or support your local independent shops
