    Navigation glitch on virtual cockpit?

Just picked up my RS3 about a week ago. Noticed a software glitch where about 50% of the time after startup/driving, where the navigation map on the left doesn't work when in sport mode

It will show the street name, but the maps portion is just black. But if I click on "view" to change to full-screen navigation, the map shows, and when I click "view" again to revert to the original layout, the maps will now show. So not end of the world, but kind of an annoyance. Should I try resetting the MMI?

edit: here is a quick video

Quite often when I start up the car the map will not load. I simple select view 2 times and it appears. Sounds like same issue you describe. Does it often but fixes itself. Almost like it gets stuck loading.

    I just deal with it.

I had my are at the dealer for over a week right after I got it to try and fix the issue. Same old story couldn't reproduce it while we had it, reset everything let us know if it happens again. I gave up and just use the middle screen for nav or apple car play with google maps.

Yes, this is exactly what's happening. Looks like it's not only me, and like you said easily "fixed" by pressing view 2 times. Will mention it to the dealer when I bring it in for the first servicing but will probably be end up something I just have to live with.

MY 2019 RS3 does the same - keep us posted with any dealer fix and/or solution

My '19 does the same thing. I notice it does it regularly if I do not wait for the Nav to finish initializing at startup; so if the car is warm already and I shift out of park, it will not load and just give a black screen. I can replicate almost every time by doing that sequence. Now I just wait for it to initialize and it will load normally. Haven't taken it to the dealer yet as I do not want the car sitting around while "they cannot replicate the issue" lol.

Same thing on mine. I’ve had for three weeks now (bought new) and the sequence and “fix” is the same as you describe.
