I've found a beautiful Red 2009 S5 Manual only issue is a CEL for a cat pre warm so the owner says .Wondering if anyone has done a cat delete on their 4.2 S5 and would share any lessons learned and what the cost of the conversion could run ?

Plenty of people have. Get o2 spacers or a tune to remove the code it'll throw

As far as I've seen you have to drop the transmission to remove and replace the cats. I don't recall an hour quote for you, sorry, but it'll get you started
