    '15 SQ5 wheels on '17 Q7?

Does anyone have any insight if this setup will work?

I own a '15 SQ5 that came with the factory 21" wheels. I upgraded to VFF-109's so I don't use the original wheels. We just bought a '17 Q7 Prestige for my wife that came with winter tires on it.

I'm wondering if the 285/40R21 winter tires will work on the 21x8.5" SQ5 wheels and if the wheels are strong enough to handle the Q7? From what I am seeing the wheel might be too narrow for a 285 tire. Any input would be appreciated!

Sure. Why not? I run 285/45/21 winters on 21x9 on the 7.

285 is too wide for the 8.5" rim. I have a 2014 SQ5 with the same rims. We've discussed this a lot in the B8 Q5 forum. You'll put a lot of stress on the sidewall.

Will it fit on the rim? Sure, but the sidewall will REALLY bulge. Will the added weight of the Q7 with the bulging sidewall create issues? Probably.

That's always been the downside of the oem 21 for the B8 SQ5 - the 8.5" width really limits the tires that will fit. If they'd just made it 9", the options would have been opened up...

    Personally, I wouldn't do it.

Thanks guys! Yes, I spoke with Martin @ Nemesis and he said the same. I thought it would be too wide. Going to scratch the idea.
