    APR Plus Questions

So I currently have a 2017 S6. Purchased about 2 months ago. Has until December left on the original factory warranty based on in-service date (or mileage, both will be around same time probably). When I purchased it, I did purchase an Audi direct extended warranty. Not 3rd party. 8yr/100,000mi bumper to bumper

My question is with APR - their site states that APR Plus covers you through the original powertrain warranty period. I assume this means through the original 4yr/50,000 mile period. So I would assume if I purchased the APR+ that APR would not be covering the period of my Audi extended warranty period, correct? Just want to make sure I don't accidentally purchase APR Plus thinking it's going to be good through my extended 8yr/100,000mi warranty when it would actually terminate this December..... If that's the case, I'll just do Stage 1 + TCU rather than the APR+ and TCU.

Right it does not appear to cover your extended warranty period and in fact that extended warranty will likely be void with either option anyway since the APR+ warranty is covered by APR for the factory period at their discretion not the Audi dealerships and since your extended warranty is provided by Audi if they scan and see a tune they can void the extended warranty if they like. Many will say you can get by with not having them scan your car etc. etc., but if you value the warranty then do nothing. Otherwise you may have to pay to play as they say.

Well let’s make a clarification here - it voids the powertrain warranty, and likely only damages incurred due to said modifications. Big difference. Especially since 98% of warranty work I’ve had done on vehicles throughout my life hasn’t even been on powertrain items.... 99% of the time my warranty work has been done on convenience / technology items such as blind spot monitoring sensors, cameras, etc. And all of those items are covered under warranty regardless if I flash my ECU or not....

With the amount of factory warranty remaining APR+ does not make sense.

Honestly the APR tune for the S7 is way over priced for what you get these days, suggest you look at the DS1 from www.dynospectrum.com, best option for our cars imo.

True, but I'll bet there is wording in the extended warranty that any modification can void the whole warranty unless you are ready to fight them. It's a risk/gamble. Possibly nothing would happen and they would just continue all extended warranty work who knows.

Thanks for the info. I’m still going APR though, it’s my preferred route.

EDIT - also just realized - APR is only $200 more than DS1, and at the moment it’s actually only $50 more.

Nope. Definitely been through this game before, that’s highly illegal to void a warranty on parts that have absolutely nothing to do with what was modified. Been down this path with my S4 before, was definitely flagged td1, have been through this extensively. I’m just more looking for info on when the terms of APR warranty expire.
