Improper jack up of A4 Avant B8?!?

The service guys replaced my winter tires the other day so they changd each wheel at a time, jacking up the car by its specific lifting points, except for the left rear wheel, where they put the hydraulic jack right under the coil spring mount, that is that spot that holds the coil. Was that ok? Could anything be bent or damaged? The manual clearly states that the car should not be lifted by the oil pan or the front and rear axle and that is why I am a bit concerned, although there does not seem anything wrong with the car. I would appreciate a reply.

You should be OK. I have used the same point to compress and strap the rear springs for removal.

So, this means that the jack and the control arm can support the weight of the car without problems, right?
Is there any video of what happens when you actually jack up the car this way? I am just curious. Anyway, thank you for your reply. 🙏

Think about it this way. the full weight of the car body is supported by the suspension springs. In the rear the springs are supported by the lower spring perches. Consequently the left rear perch is fully capable of handling jacking up the left rear.

Did you manage to wiggle them out and in without dropping anything else ?
Looks like not much wiggle room in there.

Yea there is not much room. That's what I like (the only thing I like) about these cheapo little death sticks. They're small enough you can almost get them 180° from each other around the spring. I jacked up the right front, put the death sticks on the left rear, dropped the RF and jacked up the LR. Pulled it out without compressing it any further at all.

I just removed the shock bolt and used a large pry bar to pry the springs out. The whole thing was surprisingly mild, i thought they'd have more force but they kinda just fell out

Interesting. So is it just the shock that limits the travel? You pull that bolt, jack up that corner and let the spring do its spring thing?

Well the suspension doesn't have as much natural droop as other cars so the spring won't come all the way out on it's own, but it had barely any tension on it. Just enough that i couldn't do it by hand. You'd still have to compess it to install it

also how do you get the new ones in ? using the compression tool ? i would not want to prybar my new springs in as the biggest cause of springs breaking is corrosion, and i would not want to chip off that thick paint on brand new springs with a pry bar.

Coilovers. Don't need to compress them. If you're reinstalling the oem springs you'd have to compress them a little bit

Just drop the rear subframe a bit and they come out, way easier.

Just use zip ties and don't unbolt anything ;-)
