    Need rebuild advice

I have my 4.2 out of the B7 S4. I rebuilt the transmission and now have to tackle the timing service on the 4.2. I want to pull the heads to check for cylinder damage since I broke a tensioner on the right head. Since I'm going that far, I'm thinking I should also re-ring the pistons and put new main and rod bearings in. I can find listings for everything but the bearings.

Should I not go there? Does someone sell a set? I see listings for red and yellow bearings, and top bearings are sold separate from bottom bearings. I've rebuilt lots of other engines, but I've never encountered this. Do the bearings get re-used and only replaced if damaged?

    Thanks for any help.

I'm finding out through extensive web crawling that the bearings only get replaced if they're damaged. Rod bearings can be bought in a set, but the mains are individual halves and color coded.

    Onward...
