Can the coolant drain plug be resealed without replacing the whole hose assy?

I would make sure the plug isn't cross threaded first. That could be the cause of the leak. If it is, then you'll need to replace that whole part.

I would try using white silicone on the threads of the coolant drain cap once before dumping money into the new hose.

Silicone is a bad idea as can damage internals.

    Coolant leak at drain

Only on threads not every where. Limited use is fine

Teflon tape will fix the issue if it’s a small leak from threads

What threads? This is the 1/4 turn drain where the lower rad hose fits to the radiator. Its leaking internally causing a slight drip through the drain spout.

    Can it be resealed?

i believe there is a rubber o ring in their that can be replaced if i remember correctly. But you will likely have to dump all coolant to find that out. can you not find some type of rubber boot to put over the fitting ? quick and simple answer.

The pet cock comes out of of the plastic if you turn more than 1/4. Trust me, I removed petcock once as the coolant drain passage was blocked by dirt. You can put it back with tenflon tape on the threads but needs some finnese

Thanks for the replies. Im in the middle of doing a timing belt service and oil cooler housing and dont feel like having the car down another few days. Knowing how brittle the plastic gets, I decided not to try to remove the petcock. A M6 tap fits perfect, ran a small bolt into it.
