S3 Exhaust installed on an A3. How to open the valves?

    Hi all,

I just installed an OEM S3 exhaust onto my A3 and the valve flaps are closed right now. Does anyone know how to open up the valves? Is there a way to manually have the flaps open at all times?

    Thanks!

Just remove them? on the S3, you start it up, then immediately unplug them and they stay open. Its obnoxious open all the time though. I put mine back to stock operation

Nope, you're right. The A3 does not have wiring that connects to the valve, like the S3. Any way to do this with a minimal amount of effort? (i.e., no welding and maybe just applying some kind of signal to actuate the flaps?)

Is there a definitive answer on what conditions the valves open on the S3?

Honestly I think cold Start they are open. And then they open and close while you drive around. They open at 3,000 rpms. I think.... I was monitoring them with vagcom when I did the conversion. And that seemed like that was the case. Anyone else have any more technical information?
