    2012 S4 20k in repairs

    Hi there...
I have an 2012 Audi S4 that I have had since it was new (December of 2011). Roughly a year ago (87,000 miles) the transmission blew. At first they thought it was the mechatronic unit, so they disassembled that first. In the end it was the transmission...cost me $6000 for a new transmission, Audi claimed that they covered/paid $15,000 (so if I had to pay total out of pocket, $21,000). The transmissions in this model are known to have this issue which is why they covered some of the cost. A couple months later it needed all new spark plugs and injectors. A couple months later it needs a new something or another in one spark plug/injector for another $2000. Then it goes back in the SAME DAY I pick it up from the repair because a cylinder was stuck in whatever a cylinder would get stuck in. The cost of repair you may ask? $9500. I've paid between $15,000 and $20,000 personally in repairs in the past year to year and a half (91k miles). Should I be asking Audi to pay some of the repairs for this recent $9500 repair? I have not picked the car up...it is still at the dealership. The trade in on the car is between 15k-20k max. Should I keep this car? Should I try to sell it? I don't have the money/means to buy a car at the moment (but I can cover the cost of the repair). I'm in my last year of a Phd program and need to live on a student budget for another 11 months (since almost all of my savings is in this car...I thought I was good on transportation (I had a paid for 2012 Audi S4) when I decided to to to graduate school. This car I once loved...

Thank you for reaching out and providing all of us with a brief summary of the experience you've had with your vehicle over approximately the last 12 months. I can definitely assure you that is not what we have in mind for an ideal customer experience. I would like to look into the matter further and determine if there are any opportunities for Audi of America to review. In order to do so, I'll need to gather your VIN and contact information (please feel free to PM). Also have you had any conversations with the dealer regarding the current repair? Have they informed you if the current repair is at all related to previous repairs? Do you normally work with this dealer for all of your repair/service/maintenance needs? I look forward to hearing back from you and researching the matter further.

    Thank you,
    Vincenzo F.

I have the same model and I too bought it new but never had an issue with transmission.
