    Brake Job without VCDS

So I have seen a video that shows how to do the rear set without using a vagcom. Does anyone on here have experience doing it this way? It seems pretty straight forward but I'm a bit cautious and would love some feedback. Thanks.

The video is here and here is another one with a different way of retracting it.

I fully plan on getting either an OBDeleven or Ross-Tech but my brake job is happening tomorrow.

If the dash light saying change your brakes just came on then you have done tine still. I drove mine for about 2 weeks before changing brakes without problems of damaging the rotors. When the light first comes on you have about 2 - 3 mm of oaf remaining.

You can buy the Carista dongle from Amazon for around $15. They give you a free trial period to use their software. This is what I used. I then canceled the membership right after.

You can do it with a large enough battery with reverse polarity on the caliper's piston motor. Just listen and be careful not to wind it back to far.
I did this on 2 past a4s and an a6 no issues. Granted now I do it with obdeleven.

Well it worked like a charm. I hooked it up to a 12 PSU and backed it out. Changed the rotors and pads and when I turned the car back on the motor reset the piston. Perfect as can be.
