    Heat issue

Ever since my car went in to have coolant hoses replaced, the HVAC system has been a bit off. For one, it has some kind of engine smell when turned on. The bigger issue is the AC took a lot longer to cool off after the work was done, and now the heat takes forever to warm up. Took a good half hour of driving tonight before we had any warm air. This is an issue as we have a 6 week old baby in Connecticut. Any ideas what could cause these issues?

The coolant hoses shouldn't have affected the AC, but for the heat issue it sounds like the cooling system was not properly bled. I'd take it back to the shop that did the work. No low coolant warnings/top-offs needed since you got it back?

No warnings or anything. No codes or anything either when scanned with OBD11. The dealer did the work, although I am not happy with them.

Is the coolant temp normal ? or does it take a long time for it to start to register temp.

Coolant temp is normal. It takes the normal amount of time to register. No overheating or anything either.

Nothing makes me more mad than taking my car in to have one problem fixed, only for them to return it with a new problem... good luck to you

If they did not run the car long enough after changing the hoses to get it up to temp and open up thermostat then it is entirely possible that there is or was trapped air in the system. The old school method was to warm up the engine and then top it off once the t-stat opened and then park it over night with the engine up an incline if you could and then recheck coolant levels in the morning.

Also you might want to verify that the radiator cap is fully seated and closed so that the system can build pressure. Check the hoses at operating temp to confirm they are hard and under pressure. If the pressure is not there then it might take longer to get up to temp as well.

As for the smell, what does it smell like? If it smells like coolant then there is a strong chance they spilled coolant in the engine bay or you still have a small leak somewhere. If no leak then the smell should go away in a day or 2.

So I took the car to a local independent shop here in town to go over the car. They found that the dealer cut one of the heater hoses, cutting off a bleeder hole. They think this is causing the issue as everything else seems to be correct and working as it should. He did say he is pretty sure this is causing the issue but cannot gaurantee that replacing the hose will fix it. Before I have them do it or go back to the dealer, wanted to see what you guys thought.

I am assuming without that bleeder hole that it is not possible to bleed the system correctly. Would that be a correct assumption?

Certainly sounds like air trapped in the coolant hose running under the strut tower brace.

Sorry for my ignorance on this, I have never worked on a heating and cooling system so learning as I go. I know air in the system can cause the issue I am having, and am hoping to confirm that it's impossible to bleed the system if that hole is cut off on the hose. I have to confront the dealer about this if that is true.

So I got my OBD11 back from my brother yesterday and scanned the car today. It did produce two codes:

    P261A00 - Coolant Pump "B" Control Circuit/Open
    Intermittent

B11D501 - Supply voltage terminal 30 for coolant circulation
    pump Electrical error

I'm guessing the issue could lie with the coolant pump or the electrical connections keeping the pump from receiving proper power. Does anyone know where this pump is located in the car, if it's easily accessible?

Following this as well since I’m getting the B11D501 code plus B10C222. My HVAC have been acting up and lately it’ll work when I start the cart but after 30 minutes or so it won’t cool anymore. I noticed once even the A/C function got switched off by itself so I’m trying to figure out whats the problem.

The dealer replaced the Pressure sensor around 6 months ago and all was good, but this is happening now. Any insight into this will be great
