Nice! It sounds pretty good too. What injectors and fuel pump did you go with to run that mix?

How's the 2.8 trans? Given that the 2.8 trans is still 01A, I'm not sure if it's much stronger than the 1.8 01A. How are the longer gear ratios?

I've blown a 1.8 01A before and don't know how long the second one will hold up lol. Love the build progress btw keep it up

Its not stronger, only different gear ratios and FD ratio. 01A's are piss cheap , they are a service part with high power :) The strongest trans you can put in a B5 is a diesel 01E.

    Thanks man I appreciate it!

I love my v6 trans the gears feel way longer and more appropriately matched for how my car is setup. I catch myself cruising in 4th a lot on the highway by accident lol

Would you say the longer gears are better for racing/pulls though?

You gain more top speed vs RPM, try a diesel box, 6th gear will be like 200 mph :))

I only had to shift twice in a quarter mile pass and three times with a 1.8 01a. I did run a faster time at the track but it was probably a mix of things

What the hell does third top out at then? 120? On a side note, I found a 2.8 B5 at junkyard today, manual . Wanted to pull the trans but have no idea how to tell if it's good or not.

We’ll I trapped like 108something and I was shifting right after the line. I found this post from a while back I took pics of that has the full difference in mph and rpm between the both.

Took the car out for the first time in a while to go drag racing this past weekend and burnt out an exhaust valve on my first and only run( I did win though!) I felt something at the top of 4th right before I shifted to 5th I thought I blew off a hose or cap maybe it was misfiring really bad. Scanned it and kept listening to it and came to the conclusion it was a valve so it was taken apart
    IMG_6778.jpg
and sent off to the machine shop with a set of ferrera exhaust valves that I had chillen thankfully. Probably the best worst case scenario that could have happened.

If all goes well I should be back out there next weekend!

Yeah I’m assuming it ran lean I wish I recorded it or even looked at my gauges I was to focused on the race though lol. I’ve had the same set up for about 2 years now its seen tons and tons of pulls, high rpm shifts, hitting the rev limiter it’s always been fine. I don’t know what kind of valves were in it so we shall see soon hopefully it’s back together for this Sunday’s event!

I had the head rebuilt with ferrera valves Ive had sitting threw in another stock cam and raced it the next weekend and blew the clutch lol I have since put in a ringer racing stage 5 clutch and got about 250 miles on it. I recently purchased a 2013 Tahoe z71 I’ve been putting my time and money in to that. The wagon is super fun but the hoe is way more comfortable and easy for the NYC traffic. The wagons ac isn’t that great either lol

    Welcome.

I used to have a nice collection. Speaking of my past rides. I sold my UrS6 avant (without a engine) to a buddy of mine and he swapped in a stock engine and did a complete black interior swap. It's actually his son's ride now.

I’ve been feeling it lately personally rough spot at work in the middle of building one avant and fixing the other as a daily plus a little payment for Tahoe then insurance plus the other bills (and living in nyc lol) I’ve been feeling it.
I’m glad to hear it went to good hands
