Error Code P0299 Turbo/Supercharger Underboost

Hey guys,

I'm an old B6 owner, but asking for a friend who has a B8. She just threw the following code: P0299 Turbo/Supercharger Underboost. She took it to the dealership and they are recommending replacing the Turbocharger Recirculation Valve and are quoting her $3,000 to do so. I've already recommended a couple of shops, but what is a fair quote for this job?

That’s absolutely ridiculous. $3000 for a recirculating valve? Fuck me....they saw her coming a mile away. You shouldn’t even have to ask that question.

In any case if it’s an B8 it probably has a leaking wastegate.

Look up how to fix this in the A4 B8 underboost code topic. I made a post on how to do this in about 15mins with either a large screw driver or a small pry bar.

Exactly what I'm thinking they did. Did some research after posting this and doesn't seem uncommon the stealership recommends this when this code is thrown.

How many miles on the car? Audi extended the warranty to 70k for this exact reason. Otherwise I would nudge the wastegate actuator bracket as was suggested, only need to move about 1/8-1/4”.

You would want to replace it, and you should do it yourself. Look up videos on YouTube. And the price is gonna be the cost of a brand new diverter valve.
