Just left the dealer. The technician said that the wear was consistent with very aggressive driving (i.e. tracking the car), but I have not tracked the car. The tire & wheel protection doesn't cover it (kind of expected), and no Audi-warranty covers it.
Here's the thing: The car only has 5,000 miles on it. The technician said that the brakes were fine, and had at least 60% life left in them. The discrepancy between the irregular wear on one tire vs not on any of the others, that's there. But there's also a discrepancy between the brake usage for that wheel and the tire. The technician said the brakes look great, which would indicate that it's something wrong with the tire - if it really was aggressive driving, I'd imagine the brakes would be shot too.
They also confirmed it wasn't an alignment issue or tire pressure issue. Just that it was strange, and the wear was consistent with track driving.
They advised me to reach out to Pirelli. Is that my best course of action, or am I being blindsided somewhere?
