I did the same with my S4 and I have no idea how to work with those files, lol. But I can upload them if it'll be helpful.

Still need to find wiring diagrams to make sure Kufatec haven’t given me bunk information.

Thanks for running these. My plan is to view the files to compare.
Assuming the raw hex can be viewed in a HEX editor (not sure why it wouldn't), there are programs that can compare 2 files.
Notepad++ with Hex editor plugin (available in the Notepad++ plug-in manager in the drop down)
Select View the file in HEX
open the second second file. Right click and select 'move to other view' and then view second file in Hex
Then you can select 'compare' from the drop down to compare the 2 HEX files - Notepad++ will highlight differences.

so glad to know the body harness does not have to be swapped if I go B8 to B8 like I am planning, and keeping DSG. I also have deleted my rear wiper so that part I am not concerned about. Love the work and information you have provided in this, fingers crossed I can start looking for my donor S4 soon so I can get mine swapped over as well.

Thanks man. Its definitely nice not to have to do a complete interior removal like some have done.

I can say though, if I could have found a rear ended 8.5 for a front end swap I may have done that even if it meant full harness swap. 1 fell swoop to the perfect Avant.

This is true, I do love the B8.5 front end but with some of the custom work I am about to do with my B8 bumper might stay the route of B8 to B8 so the harness does not have to be swapped. However if I was to go the route of B8.5 would the S4 harness be what I use or would I need the Allroad body harness.

Allroad with anything additional like the sport diff added back in like 300zx did. But you would have to add sports diff either way so kinda a wash.

Its a lot of work but it just looks so good. What are you planning on the front bumper something custom?

Thanks, and for my current front bumper I got the ECS Fog Light accents, I am going to mold them to the front bumper when I go to paint it.

HUGE UPDATE - TLDR rear wiper works!

Big thanks to smac770 as we had a good back and forth on a separate thread about clockspring and stalks... long story short he confirmed I did in fact have the right clocksping and stalk (used one from a q5). I had decided (wrongly) the issue was likely elsewhere, so I really needed a second set of eyes here.

On his recommendation I rechecked the coding, and I found a single box I had missed. My wiper was in the on position and the second the coding was accepted the wiper activated. Ugh. Awesome to figure out but a "you gotta be shitting me" moment as well.

I feel bad as I could have found this back in Feb but since everyone, including German Pacific, couldn't crack the entire puzzle, I don't feel too bad.

Module 9 > coding > long coding helper > byte 18 > bit 2 dual wash pump (rear wiper) installed. Check the box.

So, to summarize, if you want the sports diff and a functional rear wiper you will need
1. S4 clockspring 8k0 953 568 g
2. 2009+ q5 Stalk 8k0 953 502 bk (thanks random for pointing out my error).
3. And possibly the original A4 BCM2. I originally swapped the s4 one in but the rear liftgate wouldn't work. I put the a4 back in and had CP removed. That allowed my liftgate to work. It may or may not be necessary for the rear wiper.

So at this point my only errors are emission related for 02 sensors (I deleted cats and went test pipes) and one for the secondary air injection (emissions, I deleted it too).

No other errors. Feels amazing.

On other fronts, I swapped out my brushed aluminium trim for a stainless steel set. They are a darker grey then the aluminium which is nice, but they also add a really nice texture to the trim that looks amazing. Didnt realize how much I'd like the piano black center console as well. I'd love to find some beaufort aluminum trim but they're even harder to come by.

I go EPL stage 2 dual pulley on Friday. Cts 57 and 187.

Working on a 3g+ mmi/hvac/center console update (ups busted my center console controls frame). Thanks a ton. Waiting to see if theyll cover the damage or not. Since I had to pull the center console for the trim I took the opportunity to run wiring for a front and rear camera dash cam (2 cameras). Took out center console, rear interior, pillar trim etc. To run the wiring as stealth as possible. People like to hit my parked car so feel like it will definitely pay for itself at some point.

Lastly I had my front and rear bbk professionally coated but there was some issue (not sure what happened) but I was unhappy with the finish almost immediately after putting my fronts on. Hadent installed the rears so he media blasted them and refinished again and they came out much better. Rears go on on friday and fronts come off to get them refinished.

Rears are the Voshmod kit with q7 4 pot Brembos and Tesla model s ebrake. Think I might put just the "b" brembo logo on the tesla caliper. Thoughts?

Thanks guys, I feel dumb being so close for so long and not seeing it, but oh well. Does feel good to know I didn't fudge something up elsewhere.

And just to clairify, there are other instances in VCDS where I went into a module and made sure it was coded as a wagon not a sedan, and where I coded it as having a rear wiper installed. The above was just the last one that I had previously overlooked. I will eventually write down where all these individual check boxes are, but for now you would still have to go find each instance to ensure they all get marked correctly. Id say start at module one > coding > long coding helper > tab through each byte to verify its individual options and change as necessary. Then do module 2 and so forth.

VCDS is static, so all the options should show regardless of whether they are installed on your car or not so it shouldn't matter what trim and options you have. What is "active" will vary, but all of the options should be there.

Random - I say wire it.even if you end up not using it right now. You may want it in the future and I wouldn't want to have to re-wrap my head around the wiring in the future even if its easy to add back in. I say get it down with and put to bed.

Noted on the brakes - Gonna do the "b" to match.

Envious of both your cars - the manual and black trim on Randoms both have me a bit jealous and Avantagg's is gonna be instantly the most built Avant s4 from day 1. Good stuff guys.

I got mine to work on my swap without changing the stalk or clockspring just by clicking that change in VCDS! Thanks for the info so I can finally have a rear wiper that works, though the washer fluid didn't pump.

Were you able to get the reverse camera to work? That would be my next wish!

My reverse camera does work. Probably another vcds setting somewhere.

Did you swap the sports diff? If not then definitely no reason to swap clockspring or stalk.

Glad to hear it worked for you. Still kicking myself a bit for overlooking it.

I tried to set it up in VCDS but it tells me it is not calibrated when I click on the module for it.

I think my issue is the signal wire on the trans is not telling the car it’s in reverse so the camera won’t engage.

It doesn’t show “r” in the dis when I put the car in reverse and the mirror won’t tilt either.

I can live without a camera, but have but having a rear wiper is a nice option

With covid I started a few car projects in April but hit some major snags where a few items were broken or had to be refinished. Finally got em wrapped up last night.

Front and rear big brake kit.
3g+ MMI/HVAC/center console. MMI is broken, no video, but an easy swap when i get a replacement.
Panda driver seat. I'm working on getting the rest of the seats. Deal I couldn't pass. Seat looks dark from multiple rounds of sonax.
PCV/supercharger oil service.
Dual pulley 187/57
Front and rear dash cams.
Did stainless trim and piano black center console in April but just finished putting interior in last night so that feels new too.

Today I do an oil change and load my epl stage 2 dp and tcu tune. Haven't driven her in 45 days. Can't wait.

Also, the wiper stalk assembly part number you have listed up there is incorrect. You have revision BD listed which is a sedan. We need BK.

Brakes needed to be refinished (long story) and lines sat open for 6 weeks waiting. Never again.

So much air. Literally all of the air

Bleed it 8 times. 8! Mixture of by myself, 2 person, and using the ABS output test. Im particular so maybe I could have stopped at 6 but lines would run clear forever then bubble out of no where. With a mushy pedal after number 5 decided to keep at until it felt perfect.

S4 front seats in. Deals on rear fell through and honestly think it looks fine as is. Probably won't replace rears.

Upgraded to piano black mmi/dash trim w/ s5 cluster trim. (trim around ac/p3 guage also piano black just didnt snap a pic). I blacked out the silver ac vent and mmi trim here too so its all black.

Center stack looks great with the piano black trim fro my stainless steel insert set. replaced the door and dash trim with the beaufort aluminum. interior 10/10 now mostly blacked out and Beaufort trim looks great with panda seats.

Yup. Cant believe i missed it too. Spent so much time hunting for a reason. All i can do is laugh that this was easily the most time consuming singular issue to figure out and it was a check box lol.

Any info on DEI titanium exhaust wrap over the flex pipe? Coated my downpipws (t304 stainless so not sure if needed) but not much info on going over flex pipe. stainless zip ties suck so may redo with stainess wire twisted to tighten.

Any thoughts/info welcome. Saw some posts that said increased heat retention bad for flex but just random threads.Attachment 236742

Finially found time to install my Milltek resonated exhaust. Wrapped downpipes and glad to report 0 rasp. Tiny bit of drone around 2200 rpms but very minimal.

Absolutely did not want to jack stand this so I rented a lift at Gearhead Garage in Tigard, OR for anyone local. 25/hour totally worth it. Guy who runs it was a really nice guy.

Got a few things for the car.

Last night got a max jax. not a full size lift but a good fit for my shop.

After months of delays finally got my custom plates.

Lastly traded my old s-line interior to a guy with a b8 for paint/bodywork to fix the paint scratches here and there. Should get done in the next month or so.

Got a new windsheild last week. had a small inperfection behind where the rear view mirror mounts. Couldn't see it while driving or in car but looked like a little crack from outside. I asked for a replacement which they installed today.

Not 30 min later wife decided to back her mdx (with a beefy tow hitch) into my front bumper. Oblivios and just backed into me.

I SWEAR TO GOD 4TH TIME HIT WHEN SHE WAS PARKED! SERENITY NOW!
