Hi All,

I'm working on some maintenance items on my 2006 A4 but ran into something leaving me a little stumped. I'm closing up the back of the engine after changing the timing chain and tensioner, but from what I've read on the forums it's not completely uncommon to have an oil leak from an improper seal to the timing cover. Looking at the design of the gasket, there's a silicone bead on the upper portion of the replacement gasket but only just a metal rib around the bottom of the gasket. Is this intended to have a bead of high temp sealer added or is this a crush gasket that doesn't need sealer? Everything I've read about the job has no indication any sealer is used here...but I also don't see torque specs for the timing cover bolts...which I assumed there would be for a crush gasket.

Here's a picture of the gasket from ECS...upside down for reference.

Thank you!
