No biggie I'm thinking. Pop in a new CR2032 and bob's yer uncle. Except it didn't work. hit it with the multimeter and its putting out 3v.. is there some magic you have to do after changing the battery in the key? I can open the door with the manual lock, but can't start the car and it won't lock/unlock. My A4 went 14 years with never having had to replace a battery.... My S3 made it a just a few.

    Thanks.

Nevermind... looks like somehow the battery wasn't seated well (dunno how)... alls well :)

The odd thing I’ve noticed with these fobs is the fact they are constantly communicating with the vehicle. Every now and then I would see the led flash on the fob. Probably the reason why we going through batteries like toilet paper.

Ah, could be... once in 4 years isn't bad even though it was zero in 14 for my A4. I'm looking forward to just getting rid of the key entirely. and using proximity to a credit card type thing or off my Apple watch or phone

My keyfob stopped working one day. Was washing the car and the key sat on the shelf. Grabbed it to move the car back inside and it didn't work. Replacing the battery didn't help. Red light doesn't turn on or anything. Not sure if there are any self-diagnostic things I can do here. Motherboard doesn't show signs of burned or lose connections.

You could hold it next to steering wheel were there are several lines & that should sync in back up with the car. It is located where the traditional key would be inserted. Maybe worth a try.

Thank you, I will give that a try. The red light on the key fob was not turning on, even when I pressed the button. It's like the battery got taken out of it. So strange.

This may sound really silly, have you checked to make sure the battery is properly inserted or better yet usually these batteries are packed in three so try another. If the led does not come on when pressing the keys on the fob that could be the source of the problem. Also do you not have a spare fob?

Our vehicles came with a pair each.
