    Oil dipstick length?

    Hey guys, can someone who has added an oil dipstick measure from where it goes in to the tip? I just bought a Q5 3.0T with high miles and am trying to figure out if my oil level sender is reading right. Thanks for any help!

    Ok, maybe I'm confused here. My 2016 don't have one, just the electronic "dip stick". Am I misunderstanding it here?

    No. They don't come with one, but it's one of the most important things you need for it because of the flaky oil-level sensors.

    Where does it go and stay then? I guess that's what I'm not seeing, a spot for it to stay.

    Supposedly the newer cars come with a plug where the dipstick should be. just remove the plug and insert dipstick. personal preference whether or not you leave it in there or just use it as needed when the MMI gives you are garbage reading.

    I have the longest dipstick so my oil is always full lol
