    VCDS Lowering question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I’m getting ready to lower using the walkthrough here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...XM/mobilebasic

My question is, do I set it for the maximum or I guess in this case the minimum ride height I want or should I leave a little space for it to go further when in Dynamic? If Im understanding it correctly you are basically tricking into thinking it’s higher than it really is, so how much wiggle room should I leave or maybe the better question is how much does it drop when going from comfort to dynamic? OR does it actually rise when not in dynamic? Basically chicken or the egg question. Thanks so much for any input!

comfort to dynamic is 10mm lower.

IIRC, you do the lowering coding when in Auto.

i set mine to 15mm lower, and have never gotten an error in any of the drive modes.

First, make sure when you are doing vcds lowering, it's in auto mode. Drop it the full 17mm or whatever if you're on stock wheels. And yes, it will still drop lower in dynamic mode.
If you really want to be super accurate about it. Before doing all this put your car in dynamic and then measure each corner and see how much lower you can drop each corner and then add that number in mm to the number already in vcds

Are you running stock wheels? I’m getting ready to add 15 and 20 mm spacers to mine. Thank you I was hoping someone had a solid number to use, do you maybe have a pic of yours I could see?

Don't think about it as 'lowering to X'. Think of it as 'lowering of X'. If you lower it 15mm, it lowers it 15mm in dynamic and comfort when compared to where you're at right now.

I’m not looking to slam it or anything just close the gap so I’m thinking from the sounds of it 15 will be a good place to start. Thanks guys for the quick replies!

17 mm or 20 mm all around with stock wheels have been fine for most with the 17 mm drop. Mine, with 20 mm spacers and 17 mm drop rubbed a little so I backed off to 15 mm drop all around

Fyi, I recommend getting an alignment afterward. I previously wore out the inside of my tires by just dropping it via vcds. I learned the hard way and decided the second time around to spend the extra time/money for an alignment.
Also, dropping it made a decent difference in reducing body roll.
