MMI Oil level showing low/Dipstick shows level full, Sensor?

Hello all, I keep having an issue with the MMI oil reading on my 2015 S4. While driving last week, a yellow error message popped up on my display saying that the oil was low more than a quart and to drive to the nearest dealership. I get home, and check the level on the dipstick and it shows it as being full. So I shut the hood and waited for the MMI to reset, and then it read full. About a week later, I get another yellow message saying oil is low and to add a quart. I get home, pop the hood and dipstick shows full. I did the same thing, re-set the MMI and now it is saying full again. I did some research and have seen it could be a faulty hood latch sensor, but when I open the hood, it shows that it's open on the center display. Could it be the oil level sensor on the bottom of the oil pan that is faulty? I never rely on the MMI oil reading anyway, the error message is just more of a nuisance. Thanks in advance.

Interesting. I experienced a similar issue. I have a 2016 S5. no dip stick just what show on the MMI, at 15030 miles the yellow light poped up oil low go to dealership. i was 2 miles from home, so i went home added a quart and all was fine. Little yellow oil light pops back on at 15250 miles (about 1.5 months had passed i dont drive the car to much) so i drive it back home and start to think that something is seriously wrong here. Car is in garage and nothing on floor, look underneath and nothing, have not noticed any smoke, no nothing. So at this point i let the car sit, grab the truck and head back to work figuring i will mess with it when i get home. Get home, start up the car let it warm up and check the MMI, now it displayed, "Please reduce oil level" now i did not add any oil this time only the quart at the 15030 mileage. So i am like WTF the sensors must be wacky or something. call and schedule appointment at Audi dealership where i take the car and have it looked at. They inspect, drop shield to look for a leak, check computer, no codes, no nothing.

So anyway, i have been driving it this week and nothing so maybe just a fluke? I would have thought that something would have come up when they checked but they tell me no. Interesting

Spend the money on a dipstick. Always trust the dipstick!

If the oil level in the MMI is reading low even after you've filled it up with oil, check your hood latch. There is a switch that when it's not working correctly, will give a false negative when the car goes through it's internal checks, thus saying that it's low on oil. This happened to my B8.5 and is a common issue.

Same thing happened to me right after a dealer oil change.

Apparently, they had to reset some sensor. Nothing was replaced (according to the invoice)

You're positive you have the right dipstick?

First and best tuning for S4? Oil dipstick. Always use dipstick, never trust MMI. My MMI show less then half and dipstick full. If I believed the MMI, the engine would be overfull of oil.

i believe there is a sensor and remember about issues with the hood having to be closed properly(perhaps that's where the sensor is?) in any event .just rely on the dipstick,
