Who has had to repair the HPFP?
    If so what failed?
Is the TSI more reliable than the FSI?

TSI have a better system by far. The FSI system with the cam follower not having the bearing on the end of it makes it more failure prone normally due to excessive wear on the FSI follower. Check it and change the tappet often and all should be fine. They do make a conversion kit to take your FSI system and makes run as the TSI.

    What fails on these pumps?

By far the electrical valve on top fails the most. It’s called the N276 valve. There are very few places that sell the electrical portion by itself so most people will tell you you’ll need a new pump when this fails. It isn’t available from the dealer as a separate part but I do remember seeing N276 valves being sold on eBay.

The second biggest failure on these pumps is cam follower related though. If the follower wears through, the pump piston will ride directly on the cam and hopefully your cam is harder and most of all of the wear will happen on the pump piston and not your cam 😱

My HPFP is currently being replaced by Audi along with a stage 3 coolant leak from the coolant reservoir. I’ve had a few other repairs the last two months but don’t have the info/codes handy because I’m out of town right now. Will update next week if you’re interested. 2014 A4 Quattro 59,*** miles. Meticulous documented maintenance. The CEL keeps coming on regardless of these repairs. I’m ready to throw my hands up
