    2011 A4 Blown engine #3

    Hello all,

Friday evening I blew my 3rd engine.

First off no I was not racing or otherwise pushing it.

I have had nothing but issues.

I blew my original motor at 85k, they put in a good core with 71k. Blew that one 5,000 miles later. After they sent a bad used one out making the bill for this stay $20,000+ yo the warranty company. The warranty company opted to go brand new. So I got a brand new in the wrapper from Audi. I’m around 2,400 miles and it appears while low and behold on the freeway with the cruise set at 71 mph it let go again.

Hooked it up to VCDS and calling a misfire on #3. I don’t know what to do.

This thing is literally blowing motors for no reason. If I was racing them or otherwise running them aggressively I could understand. But really on the freeway cruising.

    Brand new motor!!!!

Any ideas or suggestions. I can’t keep putting it in even though the warranty is still there I pay deductible and extras it’s never under $1,500.

Second one cost me $3,000 after I changed timing BS cus it was stretched. Add new coils and whatnot and didn’t make it 6 months.

Cap it off they denied the claim for some BS that I didn’t provide the shop info. Thing is I called they said was fine.

    Any help please!!!!

    Thanks.

Agreed, bad shop. I mean you would have to mess up the timing or be using crap components like TB or chains. What exactly goes bad in them? Have they told you what parts are actually bad or broken? Does the engine seize? When somebody says the engine is blown, it raises so many questions about install, timing, break in procedure etc. The brand new engine should have been broken in slow and easy. If your really not nailing the throttle hard, it doesnt make alot of sense. When you are getting on the Highway do you nail it to jump into traffic?
I would want a detailed list of what broke, that will at least give you an idea of where to start looking. Are engines are pretty tough, shouldn't be blowing Motors back to back.

    Hey sorry for the delay.

It was injector failure caused fuel wash the cylinder and crack a piston.

    Second was oil consumption.

The third was yet again another injector failure with broken piston.

This was the third injector issue I had as well the first didn’t kill the engine it just fouled the plug.

The shop gets the approval from the warranty and they always send an inspector to confirm the failure.

After the last mess the warranty company said I have exhausted my benefits and no longer cover the car. They gave me $5k and said all done.

The shop rebuilt the motor it cost me another $1,700 after rental. I picked up the car on 9/27 and went straight to a dealer traded it on on 9/28.
