    How to avoid blind spots

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently came across a post stating how to adjust side mirrors to avoid blind spots completely.
The C7 has blind spots and all but this is for people who just don't want to rely on modern systems.

Here is the link to article
    https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...d-blind-spots/

For lazy folks, there is a video explaining the same

    I’ve done that for years.

But a better option are euro oem mirrors that are convex and no blind spots. Super wide FOV

I would like to get a set of euro mirrors.

In the meantime I use one of those stick-on blind spot mirrors on the driver side mirror.
    Looks odd buts works well.
I don't fully trust the expensive blindspot detection system.

The best way is to turn your head. Audi says it's just an "aid." I have the Euro BS mirror and side assist, I still keep my head on a swivel.

if you adjust your mirrors like the video or if you have euro aspherical mirrors, you will have NO blind spots if you adjust it properly and thus no need for head turn. you can test this by viewing a stationary object and moving your car towards and beyond it and watching the mirrors to see how there is no BS.

True. You can always see the car either in your rear view or side mirror. If adjusted correctly, you can even see half of the car in the rear view mirror and the other half in side mirror as it is passing...There is no chance of missing a vehicle.

As a note, if you can see the face of the person in the side mirror of your front car, pay attention while overtaking them, they have a huge blind spot.

I've been doing this for years. You know the blind spots. So while sitting in traffic stationary, adjust the side mirrors until you can see the vehicle or object in the blind spot. Side assist does not always sense a vehicle in my blind spot, especially if the other driver has been riding there for quite a bit.

Euro convex mirrors FTW. U won't even need to turn your head. Have them and love them.

I first put Euro glass on my '95 BMW M3 (the e36 M3 had TINY mirrors), and have been putting them into every car I've owned since where it was feasible (Euro glass was WAY too pricey for heated/dimming in my S4). I'm stoked that I was able to find some used headed/dimming Euro glass for my S6 on eBay for a song. They should be on my doorstep when I get home today, and will be going on my car about 30 sec. later.

Paying attention is the best way to avoid blind spots. Know what's around you, pay attention to cars getting on/off the highway and coming behind you, etc.

I just fitted euro glass to my RS7, objects are no longer ‘closer than they appear in mirror’.

Euro mirror glass went in yesterday evening. On my drive to work this AM, I was almost taken aback at how much larger the field of view is. Very, very worthwhile upgrade, using OE Audi parts.

Pro tip: I was always very skittish to pop off the old glass by angling it towards the car as far as possible and pulling from the edge - I always felt like I was going to break something (I never did, gladly). This time around, I bought a suction cup lifter from Amazon while the Euro glass was in transit. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HJZHNL3..._U9IIDbG8B5YTZ
It made me feel 100% better while removing the old glass, and it follows the service manual instructions for mirror glass removal.
