E85 And Where To Get It

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey there... anyone know a good website or app that shows local gas stations selling E85?? I'm in central NJ and nothing I've found is accurate or honestly makes sense.

    Thanks!

Im in Central NJ as well. Only place I know of is Newark airport, there is a station right across from Hertz that has E85. I bought 5 gallon containers and just take my SUV up every once in awhile and get my stash.

Yeah I saw that was one location, but I was convinced that there's GOTTA be more stations selling this in the glorious environmentally conscious state of NJ, right???? Lol (not looking for a political fight just making a joke)...

Nope. Thank God we still have the airport station. On a weekend you will see tons of modified cars filling up lol.

Only two stations that I know of (there may be some up north) are "Mighty Joes" on Rt. 206 in Shamong and the Pilot Travel Center on Rt. 130 in Cinnaminson. Might Joes is an Exxon station and their prices are absolutely insane on everything. I've been there in a pinch, but I just can't bring myself to paying his prices. They charge near $5.00 a gallon for 93. They also have or at least used to have unleaded race gas. Now that Atco Raceway is closed, I'm not sure if they do anymore. It's a shame that MJ is too expensive because they're about 10 min from my house. The Pilot Travel Center is awesome. Great prices and I've built a good enough relationship with most of the dudes there that they let me swipe my card (twice) and pump my own. Their prices on both E85 and 93 are great. Although they're a bit of the way for me (25-30 min), there's a few little restaurants I like to hit up over there, so I'll usually make a lunch out of it. Usually when I go there, there's a line of modded cars waiting for the E85 pumps. Sometimes there are guys there filling 5 gal jugs of the stuff.

NJ is too busy trying to prevent you from using plastic bags and pushing EV's than caring about corn fuel.

Yeah those are the two other places I saw online besides Newark. Oh well.. I guess it's 93 on Map4 for me until I decide to take a roadtrip...

Yeah, your other option is 5 gal jugs, but I don't want to be bothered with that.

Me neither. Plus E85 sitting for a while absorbs moisture. So unless you plan to burn thru it it might be a waste of $$

I was scrolling thru some vids and saw a guy say forget blending and run straight E85. Says the blending is where you start to get the buildup of deposits etc... not sure I agree but I can see his point.

Not sure where he gets that from. I'd think it'd be the opposite. First, most of your pump gas, at least in NJ, contains 10% ethanol. So if it were unsafe to "blend" ethanol in fuel, they wouldn't do it. Blends up to 30% aren't going to create harm, but I'd run straight gasoline through the car for a few tanks every so often. My number is every 2,500 miles. You can also put something like Star Tron in the tank every so often. Since the DAZA has port injection as well, we don't have to worry too much about valve deposits. Ethanol is sticky by nature. Again, run a few tanks of plain old gas through the car every once in a while with a fuel additive. I'd think running straight up E85 would be a death sentence for this car.

Well that's what I was thinking. These cars aren't tuned for straight E85 either.

Doesn't help you NY/NJ guys directly, but here in CA a major E85 supplier, Pearson Fuels, has a nice app with a map showing stations they supply. I use it to route plan E85 road trips, like an EV.

I'd try to find out what fuel companies supply the pumps you know about, and look for similar.

I've been doing the 5 gallon jug thing for 13 years or so literally, yep at Mighty Joe's. You get used to it, yea it's a pain but it's so effective it's tough not to use it once you get used to the performance increase. I keep 10-14 on hand... that limits me to about a trip every 6 or so weeks and i'm used to it, it's about a 45 minute drive for me.

To be honest, is it worth it? Do you see that big of a power increase compared to say 93 octane to want to hoard E85? I'm asking be cause I've never ran ethanol and I really don't know.

LOL... Yeah, the car is definitely different on an e20-30 mix. I think the difference is more noticeable going from Map 3 to Map 5 or 6 on e30 than it is going from stock to Map 3 on 93.

Best E85 spot in NJ is Power Gas in East Orange. 205 Stanford Street. I'm there every week.

Yes, and that is the downside to ethanol. I am lucky to get about 220-240 miles to a tank.

Yeah, it’s unreal the difference ethanol makes with this car. I waited to tune my car until I built my motor. When I picked it up it had 91 in it from when I dropped it off. As soon as that tank was empty I filled it with e85 and literally haven’t put 91 in my car once 2.5 years later. 10-20% throttle give or take on stage 2 e85 is comparable to full throttle stock.

Alt Fuel is the app I used for years. You fan choose E85 as desired fuel and it's been accurate for me.

The difference is wild, i agree with that... burns cooler, higher octane which allows for more boost and timing which is the goal, right? Unfortunately it's like a drug, it's hard to go backwards on power.

If you have a truck you could always buy a couple 55 gallon drums and fill those up. The only challenge then is just getting them out of the truck when they’re full.

You do know some states have laws that regulate and make it illegal to store certain volume of flammable materials.
